The successful incumbent will communicate with patients over the phone and in-store to address customer service issues and field general questions about medications. Technical knowledge and computer skills (data entry, as well as good typing and 10-key skills) with basic quantitative abilities. Strong customer service skills Language: Bilingual: English/Spanish, preferred but not required. Essential Duties/Responsibilities DESCRIPTION Responsible for ensuring accuracy and timely system entry of incoming (new and refill) prescriptions (phone, in-person, e-prescribe, etc.) and dispensing appropriately. Ensure that all prescriptions are processed according to MCHC compliance policies prior to filling and that patients are informed of possible lag times. Work with providers and medical support staff to answer patient questions and assure quality care. Field patient questions and contact doctor's offices or hospitals to clarify prescription information. Verify Rx to patient chart to validate prescribing doctor. Document referrals for 340b and attach consult notes. Coordinates with insurance companies and outside providers to troubleshoot any prescription questions timely. Validates homeless patient vouchers (Medicaid), as well as any discount program products, and denotes East Bay patients and prescribing doctor. Responsible in assisting at the cash register once a patient prescription is completed. Ensures courteous engagement with all patients and ensures the patient has the information they need to take their medication correctly. Disburse completed and confirmed prescriptions to patients. Assist the pharmacist with maintaining the ongoing medication inventory and place medication orders when instructed. In order to maintain a precise inventory, follow MCHC processes and checks as outlined. Initiate and participate in quality communication among other pharmacy staff members and those throughout MCHC. Ensure 340b inventory and retail control practices are followed. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Working Environment and Physical Activities This job is performed in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses equipment related to their specialty (radiography equipment, computers, etc), as well as standard office equipment such as phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Perform daily, checks the medicine cabinet and all areas of the clinic where night pharmacy service is available. Responsible for refilling any missing pharmacy drugs or supply items used during the night. Inspect and log the temperature of all refrigerators that contain any type of pharmaceutical reports problems. Conducts orientations, for new staff, to pharmacy policy and practice within the clinic. Keep staff appraised of changes in protocols and drug recalls that may affect patient safety. Utilize a personal computer to enter and tabulate data for the monthly workload record. Manipulate data spreadsheet software in order to provide statistical analysis of the workload. Prepares quarterly reports, which identify trends in usage, peculiarities, and discrepancies. Collect daily as required or works with a pharmacist to provide workload data, tabulates onto workload sheets, prepares figures for entry into a statistical program, and enters data into that program. Utilize basic spreadsheet capabilities and uses standard technique for the program that has been designed specifically for this location. Add new patients, doctors, and drugs to the databases as well as edit prescriptions and querying the program for data related to drug usage and workload statistics. Add new patients to the pill line and updates current patients when orders are renewed. Prepare computer generated medication administration record (MAR) for patients on the pill line. Add new patients to the Isoniazid tuberculosis prophylaxis directly observed therapy (DOT) list (if separate from the regular pill line). Clean equipment and work areas in the pharmacy. Perform record keeping functions in accordance with program policies and position. Maintain functional proficiency and ease of use utilizing electronic health records as required by, and appropriate to, position. Complete and passe all discipline specific competencies testing, initially and annually. Completes all initial, annual and ad hoc training as required. Maintain patient confidentiality, and confidentiality of medical records, in compliance with the Privacy Act and HIPAA regulations in all work activities. Adheres to, and maintains awareness of Policies, Procedures, Directives, Operational Memoranda and accreditation standards. Adhere to, and participates in, Safety, Prevention, Infection and Control, Quality Improvement, Patient Education and other programs and collateral duties as appropriate to position.     The Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS), under the direction and supervision of the treatment team, provides direct therapeutic contact to patients through the delivery of specific groups designed to address the core psychological vulnerabilities which commonly lead to patients entering crisis. This role is furthered by providing individual, ad-hoc supportive contact with patients that focus on validating negative feelings, offering strategies for coping, building self-esteem, development of skills, and assessment of immediate risk to self and others. Perform tasks as assigned to ensure unit safety is maintained in accordance with the psychiatric technician essential functions (Visual safety rounds, room checks, inventory of patient belongings). Shifts: Day Shift: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM Essential Functions Leads or co-leads educational and/or didactic groups. Ensures a positive and safe milieu by role-modeling prosocial attitudes, providing platforms for positively engaged patients to do the same, strategically managing negative influences on the milieu. In collaboration with the treatment team, participates in the overall environment of care, including safety interventions, patient care needs, assisting with ADL's and self-directed resources.
