    Under supervision, - assists lead teacher with instructional activities to provide learning experiences to individual and small groups of students. MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assists instructional personnel with the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises. Assists individual students and small groups of students to reinforce and follow up learning activities. Monitors and assists students in a variety of instructional activities as a follow-up to the presentation of instructional concepts by instructional personnel. Participates in training and assists in integrating Muckleshoot language and culture in the classroom setting. Participates in school meetings, IEP/IFSP meetings, parent conferences, and in-services or other trainings; supports parent involvement in the classroom. Supervises students in a variety of educational settings for up to 30-45 minutes at a time. Uses positive reinforcement strategies and other appropriate techniques to assist students in the development of appropriate behavior and an appreciation of human diversity. Assists in the preparation of a variety of instructional materials and learning aids for use with individual or small groups of students. Maintains a variety of records and files, including confidential student records and information. Requisitions, stores and maintains an appropriate inventory of textbooks, instructional materials, supplies and equipment. May drive a van or automobile to transport students. Assists lead teacher by using good judgment regarding appropriate action to assist injured or physically ill students. Assists in maintaining an orderly, attractive and positive learning environment. EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION Required: An Initial Early Childhood Education Certificate or A Child Development (CDA) credential. One (1) year of professional experience working with children in preschool, daycare, or similar setting. Special Requirements: Must pass a criminal background check, a drug screen and meet all health and immunization requirements. Must be able to obtain satisfactory results on a pre-employment physical examination, including tuberculosis screening. SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION Skill In: Effective communication with students, parents, or guardians, staff and administrators; working with children in an understanding, patient, receptive and confident manner; organizing activities in keeping with the maturity and attention span of assigned students; following written and oral instructions; managing student behavior; using standard office equipment, including personal computer. Confers with students, parents/guardians and other staff to provide guidance and evaluation and to encourage student achievement and/or to modify assignments or expectations when appropriate. 6. Creates a classroom the is conducive to learning and establishes classroom goals/objectives in conformance with courses of study specified by State and Tribal School regulations and guidelines; evaluates and records student progress; prepares reports for parents/guardians. 7. Collects and interprets a variety of data; provides reports for administrative purposes and in order to prepare for state testing and compliance for state and federal accountability. 8. Understands and meets the responsibilities of teaching in culturally appropriate ways to enhance and support Muckleshoot & Native American students toward success in a school setting. 9. Maintain up to date daily schedule, lessons plans, attendance records and grade records both electronically and in written format for all students that are assigned and for all subjects assigned to teach. 10. Attends or participates in required staff meetings and other activities deemed necessary. 11. Directs the activities of assigned non-certified personnel, para-professionals and volunteers. 12. Attends and actively participates in required staff meetings and other activities including serving on at least 1 committee as deemed necessary. 13. Prepares substitute plans that include: projects, schedule, routines, class list, attendance forms and other needed resources that are readily accessible in your absence. 14.
