Dispatches police vehicle to emergency medical calls, notifies ambulance service to respond as needed. Uses computer terminal to input, retrieve and transmit information from National Crime Information System. Receives and transmits information from state motor vehicle files to patrol officers. Receives and transmits calls to Canine Control Officers. Reports major criminal or emergency calls to Chief of Police or Officer in Charge. Enters data into computer system for records keeping. Retrieves data from computer system and assists in preparation of court information files and case incident reports and prepares files and records. Maintains daily log, wrecker rotation log and security systems files. Responds to after-hour informational calls for town departments. Tests and performs minor maintenance on equipment. Reports equipment failure to supervisor. Monitors prisoner cells by internal television system. Performs related administrative-clerical duties as required. Other duties assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High Scholl Diploma or GED Possess a valid Texas Driver's License Ability to verbally communicate effectively under stressful conditions. Ability to type. Any conviction at any time for a misdemeanor offense other than a traffic violation will have to be explained in full by the applicant. 18. Having a conviction for driving while intoxicated / under the influence (DWI and DUI) within ten (10) years preceding the date of the application or during the hiring process. (Texas CJIS Policy). INELIGIBLE FOR 5 YEARS: 19. Within five (5) years preceding the date of application, or during the hiring process, have illegally used any controlled substance or dangerous drug other than those listed in item No. 7 to include cocaine, methamphetamines and ecstasy. Marijuana use is addressed below in item No. 25. 20. You must not have had your driver's license suspended within the five (5) year period immediately prior to the most recent application. 21. During the five (5) year period preceding the date of application or during the hiring process, have a history of delinquent payments, or of not meeting financial obligations, or repeated occurrences of issuing checks without sufficient funds, without extenuating circumstances. INELIGIBLE FOR 3 YEARS: 22. Have an excessive record of traffic convictions or negligent traffic collisions.
