Description of Work
Staff psychiatrists serve as team leaders for multi-disciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care and treatment. In addition to the evaluation of patients upon admission, this position is responsible for providing inpatient psychiatric care which includes consultations, preparing written psychiatric assessments including treatment plans as well as administrative recommendations, chronic medication management, psychotropic drug reviews, provides consultation with medical staff as needed, and providing appropriate coordination and continuation of the care for residents in adherence to state and federal guidelines.
This opportunity offers a full-time work schedule, Monday - Friday (8 am until 5 pm) with a light call schedule.

Salary Range: $163,783 - $327,566

Description of Work
Broughton Hospital, a state psychiatric hospital serving the Western Region of North Carolina, is recruiting for full-time Adolescent Psychiatrist. Our 24-hour in-patient facility serves adolescent, adult, deaf, and geriatric patients; however, this position focuses on our Adolescent population.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Initial psychiatric assessments

* Prescribe medications for patients according to the established drug formulary at this facility and in a manner consistent with Federal and State regulations and established clinical guidelines. Variance from the formulary should occur only when clinically indicated and in compliance with the procedures established.
* Any administrative requirement for referral and/or transfer to another medical facility will be completed by Health Administration Service personnel, and only as approved by the Chief of Staff or designee prior to transfer to an non-VA facility.

Veteran's and National Guard Preference
