Job Duties:
Juvenile Court Services provides intake and supervision services for undisciplined and delinquent juveniles within a continuum of services that provides care and control. Juvenile Court Services staff members:
* receive and process allegations of delinquent and undisciplined behavior.
assess the risks and needs of the juvenile in order to provide for the security of the community and the juvenile's well-being.
* divert from court those youth whose risk levels and needs can be met through diversion plans without formal court intervention.
* make recommendations to court based on assessments that can include secure detention, if warranted.
* provide case management as part of supervision, for youths on probation to assure the delivery of appropriate services while assuring compliance with court orders; and
* provide aftercare, case management and post-release supervision to juveniles returning to the community following a commitment to a youth development center.

Work Schedule:

As a Juvenile Court Counselor Trainee, work will include:

Once fully qualified, trainees will be eligible for continued professional development, in-service trainings and workshops, and a salary increase. Employees provide behavioral intervention therapy related to criminal related behaviors and attitudes for those clients involved with the criminal justice system. Job Duties:
The primary purpose of this position is to serves as a core member of interdisciplinary treatment team. As a clinical practitioner the socialworker independently exercises clinical judgment and uses theory to formulate a psychosocial assessment, treatment modality and discharge plan. Treatment interventions include individual, and family therapies to identify deficits and remedies in complex cases such as suicide attempts, depression, abuse, mania, aggression, noncompliance, personality disorders, dual diagnosis, violence and substance abuse. The socialworker's use of a holistic approach ensures patient and family's input into planning and treatment. The socialworker coordinates and develops a discharge plan through an integrated approach with team, patient, system and community agencies. The clinical socialworker also serves as the community liaison for the unit, and may become involved in specific legal aspects of the patient's care such as involuntary commitment hearings, hearings etc. The unpredictable nature of psychiatric patients requires the clinical worker to exercise flexibility and quick decision-making skills in order to assess various situations and plan or intervene as needed. In this role, work is performed with considerable independence but also requires teamwork and collaboration. Some evening or weekend work will be required to meet family and patient needs.
Valid North Carolina driver's license is required for this position.
* Must successfully complete Criminal Justice Certification requirements.
