College course work in related field (social work/psychology/sociology/special education/rehabilitation/human services etc.
Registration on the Illinois Health Care Worker Registry as a DSP (Direct Service Professional.)
Hobbies and / or skills in the area of dance, arts & crafts, theater, gardening, sewing etc. are desirable qualities in the ideal candidate.

For our DSP role we are looking for individuals who are able to be very hands on in supporting and working with our individuals. This position requires high energy, stamina and strength in addition to great patience and ability to support individuals needing a higher level of behavioral support.

Our PM shift offers an exciting opportunity to experience activities, outings and events off campus with residents. As a PM DSP, you will aid in residents' quality of life by participating in activities that will enhance and develop your relationship with residents.
Job Responsibilities:
· Full-time position, 3pm-11pm shift, 3 weekends a month and some holidays required

Purpose:
Mental Health DSP will participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team responsible for the supervision, training and implementation of an individual's treatment plan and behavior management plans. Facilitate all client activities, and complete documentation as required by the multidisciplinary team, CARF Accreditation and funders including Medicaid standards.
Essential Responsibilities:
Provide compassionate care and recovery-oriented services to clients with mental illness.
Provide input into the client's treatment plan by outlining strengths, challenges and accomplishments.
Assist clients to achieve independent living goals by providing training in key areas such as activities of daily living, budgeting, transportation, developing healthy relationships and other items defined by ITP goals.
Assist in the development and adherence to a healthy menu (based on client's dietary needs) and in the preparation of meals as indicated by the client's skill level and treatment plan.
Provide and supervise recreational activities with clients in the community.
Supervise clients in the self-administration of medications. Provide training to them on the process, usage and side effects. Follow up with supervisor and/or medical professionals around any issues or concerns that happen related to medications. Some clients may require staff to administer the medications in which DSP's are trained to provide.
Document medication use as required by DHS standards for each shift worked.
Read and initial the communication log at the beginning of each shift.
Document services to clients as outlined in their ITP on individual or group note forms. Notes must be compliant with agency standards and completed before the end of the shift.
Complete other documentation including shift notes, attendance logs, communication and medication logs, incident reports and contact notes as applicable.
Assure safe, clean and secure living arrangement for all clients by assisting them to complete household cleaning chores. Complete the tasks as necessary by the end of the shift.
Aid the program in maintaining regulatory compliance standards by conducting fire, tornado and evacuation drills

Summary:
Envision Unlimited Options Day Program empowers members with intellectual and developmental disabilities to engage in the community, build external support networks, and develop personal interests and vocational skills. Most of this assignment / position is based in community settings providing member support, fostering inclusion and belonging beyond the member's homes. Options Training Counselors/Direct Support Professionals facilitate member participation in community programs, enhance neighborhood integration, and promote city exploration with enthusiasm and purpose.

Essential Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:
Serve as an Interdisciplinary Team Member for members assigned by the Options Program Director
Provide input regarding the member for Discovery, PCPs, Implementation Strategies, Behavior Plans, etc.
Attend all pertinent training as assigned by Envision Unlimited and the Options Program Director (trainings include but are not limited to: Implementation Strategies, Behavior Plans, Principles of Person Centered Thinking, etc.)
Apply methods described in Implementation Strategies, Behavior Plans and other plans pertinent to the member
Follow Settings Rule requirements at all times
Support members in accessing the community, including 31C objectives
Support members achieve independence in all activities
Conduct individual/group activities at the Options Program Director's request
Conduct individual/group activities independently
Ensure members control their own schedule, participation in activities of their choice
Support members in assessing their own progress and the progress of others
Support members in completing their own paperwork such as monthly summaries
Support members in using Quantum
Support members in gaining/keeping employment
Support members in utilizing the community daily
Support participation in Options, Adventures, Expeditions and Neighbors programming
Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies following appropriate Health and Safety, Safety Care, First Aid, CPR, event/CIRAS reporting and other procedures as necessary
Successful completion of all required training for certification as Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Hobbies and / or skills in the area of dance, arts & crafts, theater, gardening, sewing etc. are desirable qualities in the ideal candidate.
