Job Description:
Molecular Technologist
Location: Port Jefferson, NY
Hours/Days: 5:30pm-12:30am : Monday-Friday
Organization: New York Cancer and Blood Specialists (NYCBS)
In this role, you will:
Perform high-complexity molecular testing, including Open Array and PCR methodologies, ensuring precision and adherence to established protocols.
Conduct routine quality control (QC), calibration, proficiency testing, and instrument maintenance in accordance with laboratory procedures.
Troubleshoot instrumentation, assays, and workflow inefficiencies, escalating issues and documenting corrective actions as needed.
Monitor, manage, and maintain inventory of reagents, consumables, and laboratory supplies to prevent workflow interruptions.
Assist in the validation and implementation of new molecular techniques and automation strategies to enhance lab efficiency.
Ensure proper sample preparation, nucleic acid extraction, and amplification procedures are followed for accurate molecular analysis.
Participate in process improvement initiatives, enhancing laboratory efficiency, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.
Support training and supervision of junior staff, trainees, and non-technical personnel as needed.
Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory standards.
Perform other duties as assigned by laboratory leadership
Adhere to all biosafety and molecular laboratory best practices to minimize contamination risks.
Participate in all required safety training and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laboratory safety regulations.
Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols for handling hazardous materials.
Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace, ensuring proper disposal of biohazardous waste.
We require:
BS in Biology, Medical Technology, Molecular Science, or a related field.
NYS License Restricted to Molecular Diagnosis is required.
Will accept a generalist NYS Medical Technologist/Technician license.
ASCP certification (MB or MLT) or equivalent preferred.
1-3 years of clinical molecular laboratory experience, with hands-on experience in PCR-based and OpenArray testing preferred.
Experience with automated molecular platforms, assay validation, and troubleshooting complex molecular workflows.
Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory requirements for molecular diagnostics.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment.
Ability to train and mentor junior staff while maintaining excellent documentation and compliance standards.
Open schedule flexibility required.

Lab Aide
Location: Port Jefferson, NY
Hours/Days: 5/8.5 Hour Shifts; Tuesday - Saturday (7:00am-3:30pm)

In This Role, You Will:
Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures and practices.
Ability to operate and maintain centrifuges and processing equipment authorized within the Laboratory Services Department.
Focused on safety and quality assurance procedures with the ability to function within or above regulatory agency requirements.
Performs multiple tasks such as; pending logs, restocking of laboratory supplies, disposal of biohazard waste, temperature charts, helping with inventory counts, archiving completed work, scanning records, and maintenance of laboratory workflow.
Proper usage of time management skills.
Interact in a positive manner with supervisors, managers, and coworkers.
Experienced with workflow management.

Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
In this role, the successful candidate This position performs all routine and complicated laboratory procedures including specimen processing and handling, testing of patient specimens, calculating and reporting of results, performance of quality control procedures, operation and maintenance of instruments and equipment.
Job Responsibilities:
* Performs laboratory tests and procedures.
* Follows approved policies and procedures in performing specific methodologies and instrument operations and follows approved policies for proper recording and reporting of results.
* Performs and documents procedures required to ensure the quality of testing being performed. Responsibility includes quality control, instrument preventative maintenance, function checks and calibration.
* Follow approved guidelines when troubleshooting and carry out appropriate course of action when control values and/or instrument functions checks are invalid or inconsistent.
* Review patient results prior to release to the electronic medical record. Correlate final results with known facts concerning patient history/previous values and recognize the validity of results and identify/reject those results that are illogical.
* Communicate critical values and barriers to testing to medical staff according to protocol. Document according to laboratory policy.
* Complete assigned proficiency and competency assessments
* Maintain sufficient testing supplies in work area, including ordering if directed by lead.
* Consistently generate and review pending logs
* Enters Patient Safety Intelligence (PSI) as required.
* Participates in the training of new medical technologists/residents at the direction of seniors and lead technologists.
* Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a NYSDOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or Bachelor's Degree in the major of biology, chemistry or physical sciences from an accredited college or university or education requirement grandfathered by the NYSOP.
One year experience in a clinical laboratory (completion of an internship at a qualified institution is acceptable).
NYS License.
1 year (completion of an internship at a qualified institution is acceptable)
Effective Interpersonal and Communication skills required.

Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing complex clinical laboratory tests on specimens for diagnostic purposes under minimal supervision
Job Responsibilities:
* Performs laboratory tests and procedures, which require technical skill and an exercise of independent judgment with minimal supervision, and documents results to ensure compliance with Medical Center and regulatory requirements.
* Applies sound technical judgment in evaluating problems and developing prompt, reasonable, workable alternatives, which benefit the patient within established guidelines of the department.
* Handles varying workloads while maintaining accuracy. Follows approved policies and procedures in performing specific methodologies and instrument operations and follows approved policies for proper recording (accuracy and legibility) and reporting of all results.
* Performs and documents preventive maintenance procedures and instrument function checks.
* Performs preventive maintenance procedures at each workstation as required.
* Documents all maintenance performed, both scheduled and unscheduled.
* Documents all required information in the appropriate section of the instrument problem log.
* Follows approved guidelines in approaches to problem solving and devises appropriate courses of action when patient results, control values and instrument function parameters are inconsistent or invalid: including investigation of possible sources of variance/interference, by taking appropriate action and/or performing additional testing as necessary to assure the accuracy of the reported patient value. Maintains sufficient working supplies in order to assure the continued integrity of workstation operations.
* Maintains up-to-date pending logs to ensure that all specimens have been processed accordingly.
* Performs additional procedures as required to ensure the quality of the laboratory testing performed; and documents this activity. Performs and records periodic quality control analysis, instrument function checks and preventive maintenance procedures following approved policy.
* Correlates final patient result with known facts concerning the patients history (previous results) to determine goodness of fit and recognized illogical results.
* Calls Critical Values to nursing unit immediately upon their completion and records the name of person to whom the results were given as well as the time of the call.
* Demonstrates sufficient knowledge or expertise in dealing with scientific principles involved in the methodology performed; as well as alternative methodologies and their application to a given situation.
* Brings unresolved problems to the attention of a supervisor/assistant supervisor(s) and is prepared to report on the results of initial problem investigation and discuss possible causes and solutions by presenting factual and objective data.
* Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
* NYSDOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
* Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or Bachelor's Degree in the major of biology, chemistry or physical sciences from an accredited college or university or education requirement grandfathered by the NYSOP.
* One year experience in a clinical laboratory (completion of an internship at a qualified institution is acceptable).
* Effective Interpersonal Communication skills required.

to join our lab in Syracuse, NY. The candidate will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and final report generation of solid samples by Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry (GDMS). Materials may include a variety of metals, powders, ceramics, and coatings. Sample preparation processes may include use of bench top sheers, hand-held metal snips, precision saws, polishers and grinding wheels and various acids.
Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for process and equipment troubleshooting.

* Coordinate workflows across departments using digital tools
* Manage lab notebooks, logbooks, and documentation reconciliation
* Support recurring equipment maintenance and calibration schedules
* Organize and label lab spaces according to SOPs
* Complete safety and procedural trainings
* Perform tasks in areas handling potent chemical compounds
* Participate in weekend and overtime schedules as needed
Qualifications
* Associate degree in Life Sciences or equivalent
* Strong organizational and computer skills
* Excellent communication and attention to detail
* Ability to lift 25+ lbs., stand/walk for extended periods, and move equipment
* Familiarity with cGMP and electronic systems
* Self-motivated, adaptable, and team-oriented
* Authorized to work in the U.S. without restriction or sponsorship
Additional Information
The position is full-time, Tuesday through Saturday, with the hours of 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, with overtime as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Rensselaer, New York are encouraged to apply.
