Key Responsibilities
As a LicensedPracticalNurse (LPN) at NYCBS, you will be integral to the care and support of both patients and the medical team. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Patient Care: Update and maintain patient records (vital signs, demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies, diagnoses) within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Support & Coordination: Manage physician inbox messages via Onco EMR, prioritize tasks, and assist in maintaining medical inventory, including placing orders and stocking exam rooms.
Patient Interaction: Answer phone calls, greet patients, ensure a welcoming atmosphere, prepare examination rooms, and educate patients on medications, disease management, and treatments.
Clinical Support: Assist physicians during exams or procedures, administer injections, perform phlebotomy, collect lab specimens, and conduct point-of-care lab testing (e.g., EKGs, Genetic testing, Liquid Biopsies).
Medication Administration: Administer medications as per physician orders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to the five medication rights to reduce errors.

Job Summary:
The LicensedPracticalNurse (LPN) works within a UBMD Primary Care outpatient clinic to help promote patient flow and perform tasks within the framework of nursing care. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, all clinical floor duties for providers and residents and facilitating efficient workflows throughout the clinic by maintaining excellent patient care and customer service under the supervision of the RN Nurse Manager.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for escorting patient to exam room, obtaining brief history and vital signs.
Updates electronic medical records (EMR) for provider's review, if applicable.
Performs immunizations, injections, urinalysis and other procedures. Packages specimens for analysis when applicable.
Assists providers with patient exams and procedures.

Provides appropriate patient education based on diagnoses.

Handles e-scribe refills from the pharmacy.
Ability to work 37.5 hours per week on a regular basis, except during times when paid time off is requested and approved.

Adheres to HIPAA and confidentiality policies and procedures.
Other Functions:

Qualifications:
Education
: Graduate from an accredited LPN program; Associate's degree preferred.
Experience

JOB SUMMARY:

Job Summary:
The LicensedPracticalNurse (LPN) works within a UBMD Primary Care outpatient clinic to help promote patient flow and perform tasks within the framework of nursing care. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, all clinical floor duties for providers and residents and facilitating efficient workflows throughout the clinic by maintaining excellent patient care and customer service under the supervision of the RN Nurse Manager.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for escorting patient to exam room, obtaining brief history and vital signs.
Updates electronic medical records (EMR) for provider's review, if applicable.
Performs immunizations, injections, urinalysis and other procedures. Packages specimens for analysis when applicable.
Assists providers with patient exams and procedures.
Completes and reviews orders to ensure all chargeable encounters are entered to capture appropriate revenue.
Provides appropriate patient education based on diagnoses.
Communicates plan of care to patients as prescribed by provider, including test results, scheduling of specialized tests, treatment modalities, prescription drug instructions and other patient education.
Packages tests/specimens to be sent to laboratory for analysis.
Ensures patient charts are up to date for visit by obtaining all appropriate records and orders.
Prepares patient exam rooms and equipment prior to and after encounters.
Handles e-scribe refills from the pharmacy.
Ability to work 37.5 hours per week on a regular basis, except during times when paid time off is requested and approved.
Reviews and addresses daily tasks as assigned.
Complies with all OSHA regulations.
Adheres to HIPAA and confidentiality policies and procedures.
Other Functions:
Provides assistance with telephone coverage/triage as needed or requested.
Schedules patient appointment testing, when applicable.
Assists with patient portal triage and medical refills, as needed or requested.
Maintains and organizes clinic supplies including drug samples and vaccinations.
Enters vaccine records electronically.
Reviews company email on at least a daily basis in order to receive and address notifications and/or other pertinent information in a timely manner.
Any other duties as requested or assigned by the RN Nurse Manager, provider and/or other management representative. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
May be required to travel to other UBMDFM location(s) dependent on company need.

Qualifications:
Education
: Graduate from an accredited LPN program; Associate's degree preferred.
Experience
: One (1) to two (2) years' experience in nursing, preferably in an outpatient clinic setting. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
: Excellent clinical skills required. Excellent communication and multi-tasking skills required. EMR experience and triage/phone experience helpful. High degree of flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to changing demands required.

• Collect and process specimens, including blood draws, EKG assessments, and vision tests; record medical history and medications.
• Coordinate research participant appointments and care across NYCBS departments.
• Administer injections and oral study treatments per study protocol.
• Document and report Adverse Events and Serious Adverse Events.
• Maintain study kits, supplies, and equipment inventory.
• Participate in mandatory study calls and ongoing training for assigned protocols.
• Maintain accurate accountability logs for investigational drugs and communicate updates with study sponsors.
• Serve as a first point of contact for research patients, assisting with triage, scheduling, and study-related inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with study procedures, IRB approvals, and regulatory standards.
• Manage data collection, entry, and quality control for study records and reports.
• Collaborate with sponsor medical teams, investigators, and clinical staff to ensure study success.
• Travel to assigned trial sites and NYCBS offices as needed.
We Require
• Current New York State LPN license.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a clinical or medical setting.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and start IVs (training available).
• Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to multitask and interpret complex clinical trial protocols with attention to regulatory compliance.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; ability to learn research-specific software.
IATA Dangerous Goods Training (provided annually).
CCRC certification through ACRP after 2 years of research experience.
Bilingual skills a plus.
