The course introduces students to the three agencies that comprise the criminal justice system: police, courts and corrections. Particular attention is given to: (1) the process of justice i.e., investigation, arrest, booking, initial appearance, probable cause hearing, grand jury, indictment, arraignment and plea, plea bargain or jury trial, sentencing hearing, incarceration, and release, and )2) the due process rights of defendants as delineated in the Bill of Rights and the Fourteenth Amendment. Tenured faculty may also receive teaching releases to assist with research. The Department of Middle and High School Education (MHSE) invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor -Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and/or Bilingual Education PreK-grade 12.
MHSE seeks an individual whose expertise includes teaching, research, and coordination duties in TESOL and/or Bilingual Education PreK-grade 12. The successful candidate also shares responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as assigned. While some online teaching or remote administrative work may be allowed, the role requires consistent on-campus engagement. Faculty are expected to maintain a regular on-campus presence for teaching, office hours, departmental and other activities. The position is not a remote position.

An additional stipend will be provided for serving as Program Director.
The ideal candidate is engaged in scholarly endeavors with demonstrated both research and teaching excellence. An intrinsic excitement for teaching and interaction with students is highly valued. The successful candidate will have a rich background in family systems, including both research and clinical practice within a range of populations and cultural contexts.
The Program:
The Marriage and Family Therapy program, an in-person 54 credit degree program, prepares students for licensure in New York State. The program features dynamic, practice-based courses led by dedicated faculty who prepare students with the skills necessary to work with couples and families to resolve relationship conflicts. Students receive intensive academic and clinical training through theory and applied classes and an integrated internship that's completed at the on-campus Counseling and Mental Health Professions Clinic.

The successful candidate will instruct graduate students in the Master of Health Administration program. * The Department of Population Health is a dynamic community with over 700 students, 350 undergraduate students in Community Health and Health Science, and another 400 graduate students in our three graduate programs: Master of Public Health, Master of Health Administration, and Master of Science in Health Informatics. The Department of Population Health resides in the School of Health Sciences, along with three other departments: Allied Health and Kinesiology; Counseling and Mental Health Professions and Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences. The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication at Hofstra University is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position for an Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism, Media Studies, and Public Relations (JMSPR) to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Journalism beginning the Fall semester of 2026.
We seek candidates who are forward-looking thought leaders and practitioners who are knowledgeable of the contemporary digital, technological, ethical, and economic landscape in which journalism lives. The successful candidate should understand best practices for reporting, producing, and distributing a wide range of stories in a variety of platforms and evaluating their impact on the community. The candidate should be capable of teaching our courses that include core reporting and writing, media ethics, and digital tools. They should also be able to teach advanced reporting and storytelling techniques that incorporate audio, video, photography, data, social media, and/or other emerging media. We particularly welcome a candidate interested in expanding or deepening our program in innovative ways to reflect the current needs of the news media industry and of the students.
