Purpose of Role Perform a variety of cleaning duties to maintain the cleanliness of assigned are: About This Opportunity Joining our Maintenance team, the Housekeeper will be responsible for the following: Dispose of trash from bins and containers. Dust, polish and clean surface areas. Perform general sweeping, mopping and vacuuming of floors and stairs. Service restrooms; clean and disinfect sinks, communal surfaces, and toilets. Clean glass surfaces and mirrors. Ensure bathrooms are stocked with toilet paper and soap. Ensure walkways are free and clear of debris. Empty trash cans. Notify management of deficiencies or needs for repairs. Follow all health and safety regulations, wear protective gear when required. All other duties as assigned. Work collaboratively and professionally will all co-workers and members of the campus community. $15.50 per hour. Shift: 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM; Monday - Friday; will work 4 out of 5 days per week for a total of 16 hours. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to follow directions, verbal and written. Ability to follow department Uniform Policy. Valid driver's license for maintenance workers assigned to pick up trash collected from buildings. Physical Requirements: Physically able to reach, stretch, bend and walk during the daily routine, with ability to stand for long lengths of time. Ability to push a vacuum cleaner for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 25 to 30 pounds. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license required for maintenance workers assigned to pick up trash collected from buildings. Preferred Qualifications: Previous cleaning experience preferred; training will be provided. Previous office experience is a plus for covering phones and filing back-up in office. The responsibilities of this position are but not limited to: * Empty and spot clean waste receptacles including replacement of liners. * Empty recycling containers as required. * Clean and maintain floors / carpets, walls and stairwells in assigned areas using appropriate chemicals and equipment. Methods include but not limited to; sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, wiping, scrubbing and mopping. * Spot clean carpets as required * Dust, clean and polish building surfaces, shelves, HVAC vents, cabinets and furniture. * Clean chalk/marker boards. * Return classroom furniture and other furniture such as lounges to proper position. * Clean, polish and disinfect bathroom fixtures including toilets, showers, water fountains, partitions, walls, floors and replenish bathroom supplies. * Wash interior and exterior windows. * Properly maintain housekeeping closets and cleaning equipment. * Complete reports and supply request forms * Assist set-up and / or teardown of events and activities * Report to supervisor or Facility Services office for any broken, nonfunctional, or damaged items. * Other duties as assigned Education / Experience * High school education or a GED and one year of institutional housekeeping experience preferred. * Ability to understand and display written and oral communication skills. Competencies / Skills * Housekeeping skills in institutional cleaning is desired. On the job training is provided. * Must be able to understand / follow basic safety precautions involved in the use of cleaning chemicals, operation of motorized equipment, and personal protective equipment. * Must be able to understand and follow a work schedule and complete assigned tasks in the time allotted. * Must be able to effectively communicate in English.
