As needed, the Surgical Assistant may be required to assist in transporting an inpatient to the Operating Room. The Lead Certified Surgical Technologist will serve as an expert, will adhere and maintain the requirements specific to the job description required for assisting with patient care within the assigned work area, participates as a member of the health care team, and contributes to the care of the patient by following established Surgical Services standards. Gould Hospital Work Type: Full Time Hours Per Week: 40.00 Work Schedule: 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM * Sign on bonus eligible* Assists in operations, under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. Responsibilities: * Knows how to set up a sterile instrument and surgical field and maintain the sterility of that field. * Greets, identifies, and transports patients to and from the Operating Room and/or Recovery Room. * Assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment. * Functions under the direct supervision of the surgeon, PA/RNFAs, or Registered nurses in the care of patients before, during and after surgery. * Has in-depth knowledge of surgical instruments and proper care of those instruments. * Passes instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and PA/RNFAs.
