SUMMARY: The Dispatcher functions as a Call-taker telecommunicator and is responsible for receiving, recording and effectively managing requests for medical assistance/transport from various sources. The Dispatcher will provide pre-arrival instructions as necessary and will coordinate dispatch and communications activities to ensure the most appropriate EMS response.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Understands and adequately implements the concepts of EMD (as customized by NorthStar) as a minimum standard of care
· Allocates EMS resources properly as the need arises by application of appropriate decision making rules and approved protocols.
· Manages radio communications in a prompt, accurate, courteous and professional manner.
· Selects and dispatches appropriate vehicle(s) including ALS, BLS, First Responder, Fire Rescue and any other ancillary support units to emergency/nonemergency requests for assistance.
· Responsible and accountable for completeness and accuracy of paperwork related to his/her position prior to completion of shift.
· Responsible for accurate and complete data entry for the shift.
· Responsible for generating applicable reports and checking for accuracy.
· Assists in locating scene of incidents and selecting the safest, fastest route to such scene using all available locator aids.
· Keeps track of locations, status and condition of each unit at all times.
· Relays instructions from supervisors, messages and emergency information.
· Maintains a current working knowledge of all company policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and memorandums.
· Responsible and accountable for updating management and operations personnel on any changes affecting the company and/or extraordinary situations.

UNUSUAL DEMANDS:
· Employees are required to handle multiple tasks concerning emergencymedical calls that are frequently life threatening or major health threatening to other individuals.
· Required tasks arise from spontaneous situations occurring most often without warning.
· Employees must interact with hostile and/or uncooperative individuals via telephone contact. They must interact with individuals who are confused and unclear.
· They must utilize the information they gather to make quick and accurate decisions regarding action needed.
· They must be able to take down information correctly under all types of adverse communications situations.
· Due to the unpredictability of this type of position, it is not always possible to guarantee meal and/or break periods.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Medical training is an asset, e.g., at least First Responder trained (proof of training required) at time of employment or, has at least one year's experience as an EMS or public safety dispatcher. CPR Certification is required.
· Must successfully complete a NorthStar-approved EmergencyMedical Dispatch training program within 12 months of assuming position.

· Has visual acuity of at least 20/40 (Snellen) in each eye, with corrective lenses and a field of vision in the horizontal meridian not less than a total of 140 degrees. Ability to distinguish the colors on the computer screen and maps.
· Hearing must be adequate in the better ear for conversational tones without the use of hearing aids.
· The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
· The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 10 pounds up to 25 pounds.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust forces.
· Due to the unpredictability of the essential job functions, it is not always possible to guarantee break and/or meal period. Therefore, there may be no physical condition that would prohibit him/her from working twelve (12) hours without a meal or break period (except for restroom breaks).

Summary: Has the responsibility for the provision of optimum patient care in accordance with the Alabama Department of Health EMS Rules and Regulations. Shall be responsible for the safe operations of NorthStar EMS vehicles in accordance with current Alabama motor vehicle code.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain personal knowledge and skills in order to deliver optimum patient care as an EMT role model for other emergency service personnel
Conduct a careful and full examination of the patient for signs and symptoms of illness/injury and assist other medical personnel as necessary.
Provide prompt and efficient care of the patient and stabilization of condition prior to transport.
Provide careful handling of the patient in moving him/her to the ambulance.
Provide safe and efficient transport of the patient while constantly monitoring the patient and providing any continuing care within the limits of license and certification.
Provide orderly transfer of patient to destination.
When necessary, in the absence of other qualified rescuers and within limits of training, use procedures to gain access to and disentangle patients who require extrication.
Supervise the performance of EMT trainees and other observers on the unit.
Safely operate vehicles of NorthStar EMS in accordance with current motor code of the State of Alabama and pay due regard for the safety of the public.
Stock and maintain ambulance and its contents in a state of readiness at all times. Maintain station and its contents.
Work in hazardous environments to insure safety and stabilization of the patient.
Work with local BLS, ALS, fire and law enforcement agencies as a team for a coordinated effort on the patients behalf.
Document all patient care, contact, assessments and all service reports in a timely fashion. Ensure that all billable items are charged for.
Participate actively in NEMS QA.
Maintain units, radios, equipment, supplies and stations in a state readiness 24 hrs. a day, 7 days a week.
Depending on whether functioning as a driver or attendant, will make daily checks of the vehicle equipment and systems, and completes manifest and other reports/forms as required of driver or attendant.
When approved and requested, participating in the training and evaluation of new employees and students.
Shall be punctual and ready for shift.

* You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
* You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medicalemergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
* You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
* You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
* You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
* You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

EmergencyMedicalTechnician EMT IMMEDIATELY HIRING! EMT FULL-TIME Opportunity We're hiring EmergencyMedicalTechnicians (EMTs) that will respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for medical assistance and deliver high-quality care, treatment and customer service to patients.
Responsibilities:
* EMTs provide an assessment of patients, determine necessary care and deliver emergency services by utilizing appropriate medical techniques and equipment.
* Document patient information, condition and treatment while maintaining confidentiality and patient rights.
* Take pride in providing a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment for patients.
* Use appropriate EMT skills to provide care including communications, medical equipment, cleaning procedures, office equipment and tools.
* EMTs operate an ambulance in conjunction with applicable company safety policies, and traffic laws related to the operation of emergencymedical response vehicles.
* Work collaboratively and in a professional manner with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as your fellow EMTs.
Other Responsibilities:
* Participate in community programs to maintain AMR image and establish strong community relations.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
* State EMT License
* State Driver's License
* BLS, NREMT
* Driving record compliant with company policy
* Pass Physical Agility Test
* Some work experience, preferably healthcare
Preferred Qualifications:
* Related experience in healthcare
