What You'll Do Essential functions include: Compounding and delivery of Hazardous and Non-Hazardous sterile admixtures. Processing refills to automated dispensing machines and replenishments to emergency kits and carts. Demonstrating proficiency with equipment and software. Maintaining regulatory requirements for USP797/800, Board of Pharmacy, DHHS, DEA. Procuring medications and supplies (site specific). Answering and screening telephone calls and referring calls to a pharmacist when appropriate. Flexibility to travel to other cancer institutes and/or infusion centers as needed. What We're Looking For Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. Experience: Acute: One year experience. Minimum of two pharmacy skills (examples may include medication distribution, sterile compounding, and/or medication listing activities) required. OR. . . hired as a Pharmacy Technician 1 Certified and now competently performing a second pharmacy skill as described above, OR pharmacy intern enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school. required. Outpatient Oncology: Minimum of two years of experience in any setting with one year of experience in sterile compounding (of IV and/or chemotherapy admixture), required. Specialty Pharmacy: Minimum of two years in any setting required with one year in specialty setting preferred, required. Licensure/Certification: Current registry with applicable State Board(s) of pharmacy, required. PTCB or NHA Certification within 60 days of hire, or proof of enrollment in pharmacy school/FPEGG/FPGEC; required. A minimum of one relevant specialized certificate/certification from approved vendor such as PTCB, BPTS or NPTA (examples include but are not limited to product verification, medication history, hazardous drug management, billing/reimbursement, controlled substances diversion prevention, medication therapy management, sterile compounding). This must be obtained within 12 months of hire and maintained as applicable required. Additional skills required: State Registration and/or evidence of renewal is required for both Pharmacists and Technicians fifteen days prior to expiration and Technicians are required to be either certified through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA), or be actively enrolled in pharmacy school, or be active in Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) or Foreign Pharmacy Equivalency Certification (FPGEC). Considerable knowledge and application of basic math skills, including ratio and proportion relationships; strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to follow verbal and written instructions. What You'll Do Essential functions include: The Home Delivery Pharmacy Technician is responsible for processing, preparation, and filling of specialty prescriptions Perform non-sterile compounding and repackaging Answer and screen telephone calls and referring calls to a pharmacist when appropriate Use point-of-sale to support customer service needs Support shipping of specialty medications by preparing supplies and ensuring ice packs are re-stocked Demonstrate proficiency with equipment and software Package, ship and track all packages to ensure they are delivered to the appropriate address and within set timeframes for medication integrity Process prescriptions in a timely order and manner so as to best take care of patient needs Receives and accurately transcribes orders from prescribers under the supervision of a pharmacist Utilize EPIC/Patient Management system to review and process prescription information Thoroughly document patient encounter(s) via Epic/Patient Management system to meet accreditation standards Answer and screen telephone calls and referring calls to a pharmacist when appropriate Purchasing duties and support inventory management What We're Looking For Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year/Associate Degree, preferred. Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred. If Associate's Degree in Pharm Tech, experience is included in schooling. Licensure/Certification: Current registry with applicable State Board(s) of Pharmacy, required. PTCB or NHA Certification within 60 days of hire or proof of enrollment in pharmacy school/FPGEE/FPGEC, required. Additional skills required: State Registration and/or evidence of renewal is required for both Pharmacists and Technicians fifteen days prior to expiration and Technicians are required to be either certified through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or be actively enrolled in pharmacy school, or be active in Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) or Foreign Pharmacy Equivalency Certification (FPGEC). Considerable knowledge and application of basic math skills, including ratio and proportion relationships; strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Basic technology skills. Other duties as outline in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team. Additional skills preferred: Considerable knowledge of medication names (both trade and generic) and their doses, routes of administration, and adverse effects; the ability to demonstrate patient interview skills and strong written and communication skills with other healthcare professionals.
