Safety, Division/Branch Laurel, MD * ID: 4600 * Full-Time/Regular The Safety Manager assists the Division Safety Leader in enforcing and regulating all safety procedures to ensure that Southland Industries meets all safety requirements in the field and all facilities by managing and coordinating all division safety activities. This role will support our safety efforts in the Maryland Fabrication Shops. Position Details * Tours and inspects Southlands Fabrication facilities, to ensure compliance with company, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations. Partners with Operations management to mitigate risks. Reports concerns to safety senior management. Ensures Enforcement of OSHA regulations and company safety policies. * Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures. Successful candidates must demonstrate the following experience and/or capabilities: * Perform regular job site inspections to identify, document and recommend mitigation of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions and verify correction actions have been completed. * Support incidents investigations to include interviews, data compilation, photographs and completing proper documentation. * Evaluate various planning/permits such as: Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, Steel Erection, Energized Work, Pre-cast Tilt-Up as examples for effective and appropriate mitigation techniques. * Industrial Hygiene principles and techniques involved in Hearing conservation, Lasers, Silica, Asbestos, Lead work, as examples. * Understanding of fire protection, flammable/combustible materials storage/management. * Working knowledge of OSHA Regulations * The preceding experience and capabilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. Working Conditions * Work is conducted in both indoor office settings, and outdoor constructions jobsite settings requiring sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. * Work hours will be determined at the Project or work assignment basis. * Noise level varies based on location. * Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs. * Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc. * Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to, steel toed boots, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.) A comprehensive benefits package is offered.
