    Job Description: Sterile Processing Technician A Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) is responsible for ensuring that medical instruments, equipment, and supplies are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for use in healthcare settings. Common Duties and Responsibilities: Cleaning and Decontaminating Instruments: Manually or mechanically clean and decontaminate surgical tools and equipment. Remove biological debris, blood, and other contaminants from instruments. Use appropriate cleaning solutions, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers. Inspection and Assembly: Inspect instruments for damage or wear. Ensure that all parts of instruments are intact and functioning. Assemble instrument sets according to specifications or procedures. Sterilization: Operate autoclaves or other sterilizing equipment to sterilize instruments. Select appropriate sterilization methods based on the materials and types of instruments. Ensure that sterilization cycles are properly run and documented. Inventory Management: Maintain and organize inventory of sterile instruments and supplies.
