POSITION SUMMARY
Corporate litigation attorney will be acting as counsel of record, representing various healthcare facilities under our management. Must be confident and comfortable handling full case responsibility from intake, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, up to trial preparations. This is an in-house position, and may include some corporate/transactional work, but will focus primarily on our litigation needs.
Reporting directly to senior corporate counsel, and executive management. _This position may require working remotely and occasional travel._
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a California State Bar license. Must have at least 1-5 years of hands-on litigation experience. Must be admitted, or capable of admission, to all California Courts. Additional preferred experience in: actual trial, arbitration and mediation, labor commissioner, administrative law, healthcare/patient collections, malpractice, elder abuse, and negligence. Strong work ethic. Ability to prioritize and stay motivated.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESI. GENERAL
* Employment litigation defense is required, such as wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, wage and hour. Must have a working knowledge of employment laws, and experience with these cases.
* This will include conducting internal investigations with respect to active litigation, demand letters, and HR complaints.
* Business/commercial litigation is required, such as customer/vendor disputes. Mostly defense, some prosecution. Must know how to review underlying invoices, account statements, contracts.
* Must be autonomous, able to go from consultation with non-legal company reps, to research, to preparing and filing a complaint.
* Must be able to receive a demand letter and/or a compliant, and take on the necessary investigation and filing of responsive pleadings.
* Preparing correspondence and documents
* Filing, typing, and using computer software with emphasis on basic word processing and spreadsheet applications.
* Communicating with employees and management.
* Coordinating special projects as directed.
* Read and analyze incoming memos, submissions, and reports to determine their significance and plan response.
* File and retrieve corporate documents, records, and reports.
* Compile data, and prepare papers for consideration and presentation by executives, committees and Boards of Directors.
* Conduct interviews with employees and management.
* Summarize depositions, testimony and interrogations.
* Attend relevant meetings and events.
* Draft legal documents such as contracts.
* All other duties as assigned

Update and maintain client information in protected, online databases (Dynamics, Teams, etc.)
Conduct regular, re-occurring meetings with clients to ensure progress on goals and to provide appropriate connections to resources, including transportation assistance, childcare, and education programs.
Achieve grant requirements and deliverables through timely, high-quality services.
Participate in on-going training to improve service delivery and ensure compliance.
Review and regularly present the status and progress of each case to Program Manager.
Collaborate successfully across World Relief Modesto staff and departments, as well as with external service providers to ensure holistic case management

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is the nation's leading cancer advocacy organization. Together with our charitable partner, the American Cancer Society, we work in Congress, state legislatures and local jurisdictions to support evidence-based policy and legislative solutions designed to eliminate cancer as a major health problem.
The Project Director/Senior California Tobacco Control Manager will provide leadership for a three-year tobacco control grant, supervising the project staff, managing the budget and reports as well as producing grant deliverables and timelines are met. They will lead the team that ensures our rural constituents (with a focus on Hispanic/Latino constituents) and their stories will have a voice and a place in the tobacco control advocacy, public policy processes, and in ACS CAN's advocacy work.
***This is a 3-year grant funded role through 2028. Candidates must be able to engage with local community members and attend local events in Stanislaus County. This role will lead and support a team with community engagement in culturally diverse communities of Stanislaus County. Additional language fluency in Spanish is needed.***
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure implementation of the three-year California Tobacco control grant scope of work, contract, budget, intervention and evaluation activities to ensure that work plans are executed, evaluation is high quality, and deliverables and reporting are made on a timely basis.
Lead planning and implementation of comprehensive and strategic tobacco control grassroots advocacy campaigns to develop community capacity and demonstrate constituent support for local tobacco control- related policy initiatives that will reduce health disparities.
Supervise project staff, evaluator, sub-contractors, and interns, and support volunteer development, community engagement and activities in the scope of work.
Oversee the evaluation process for the grant
Act as a liaison between the Stanislaus County Hispanic/Latino community members, partner organizations, leaders, and ACS and ACS CAN staff and volunteers.
Partner with ACS and ACS CAN to ensure a communication plan is implemented for the grant's diverse, Hispanic/Latino communities. This includes earned and paid media and social media.
In partnership with Sr. GRD and GRM, support staff efforts to plan and implement ACS CAN policy and fund development goals and activities.
Accurately and effectively represent ACS CAN and its mission.
Follow ACS CAN policies and guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
FORMAL KNOWLEDGE
Bachelor's Degree-required (Public Health or Public Administration suggested)
Minimum of three years of relevant work experience with at least one year of health promotion, policy campaigns, or community organizing experience, and at least one year of supervisory and grant management experience
OTHER SKILLS
Experience working with Hispanic/Latino communities in a culturally competent manner.
Spanish language fluency preferred.
Ability to work independently with minimum direction as well as lead a high functioning team. Demonstrated ability to work on fast-paced, time-sensitive matters with internal and external constituents.
