Complete required clinical paperwork including psychosocial assessments, Columbia Suicide Risk Scale, and progress notes. Respond appropriately to patient crises and participate in de-escalation procedures. Demonstrate knowledge of confidentiality, HIPAA, and clinical regulations (TJC, CARF, Medicaid, etc.). Assist care coordination with discharge planning and continuity of care. Complete all documentation thoroughly, accurately, and within facility timelines. Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership. Establish occupational therapy treatment goals through dynamic and standardized assessment tools Consult closely with multi-disciplinary team members to create collaborative treatment plans and integrative strategies Provide individual therapy sessions as well as group and/or co-treats with other disciplines as therapeutically appropriate Maintain patient records, documentation, and appropriate billing in accordance with federal and state regulations and company policy to ensure excellent standard of care Provide play based and goal-based interventions to promote sensory processing, regulation, and skill development in daily occupations Facilitate functional and stimulating experiences to target and achieve individualized goals Devise strategies and supports to help the individual more fully engage in activities of daily living Collaborate with the individual and family to understand their values, interests, and goals Implement programming that considers all aspects of the child, inclusive of, but not limited to sensorimotor, cognitive, communicative, recreational, and social activities Contribute to program development Educate patients, families, team members, and caregivers on home programs that complement treatment Expect to deliver at least 27 hours of direct patient care each week, excluding time for training, documentation, and administrative meetings In this role you are occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Team members must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. We'd love to hear from you if: You possess a master's degree in related field. You hold a current and unrestricted license and/or certification that is required to practice within your clinical domain and obtain cross-state licensure in new states as indicated by the current business needs. You have excellent clinical skills. You desire to work in a multi-disciplinary clinical setting. You are flexible and open to learning. You have an appreciation for a wide range of therapeutic approaches. You possess a passion for working with children. You are skilled at using software and systems including electronic medical record systems and Microsoft Office products. You preferably have knowledge of HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient information. The Occupational Therapist facilitates the learning of those skills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity, in order to diminish or correct pathology. Essential Functions: Evaluates clients, develops appropriate treatment goals and methods, implements the occupational therapy treatment plan, and completes all related documentation and record keeping regarding these services; this includes application of therapeutic techniques in areas such as cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination endurance, mobility, perceptual abilities, sensory awareness, sitting and standing tolerance, balance, activities of daily living, joint protection, work simplification, orientation, and psychological functioning. Designs and fits adaptive devices and trains clients in the use of adaptive devices including splints and orthotics. Selects appropriate activities suited to the individual's physical and mental capacity, intelligence level and interest. Consults with other members of the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate activity program consistent with the needs and capabilities of each client. Instructs client in the skills and techniques required for participation in activities and evaluates client progress, attitudes, and behavior as related to rehabilitative potential. Adapts program according to the needs of individual client. Attends and contributes to client care, staffing conferences and other related meetings. Conducts training programs and participates in training medical, nursing and other personnel in occupational therapy techniques and objectives. Requisitions supplies and equipment as necessary. Cleans, maintains, identifies and reports the need for repair of equipment as necessary. Supervises supportive personnel in accordance with state and professional standards. QUALIFICATIONS: The Occupational Therapist must be licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required in the state of practice.
