Job Summary We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Quality to lead the development and execution of a comprehensive national quality control program across approximately 15 facilities in the United States. This role will be responsible for setting and maintaining quality standards, implementing consistent policies, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement across our Decking, Aluminum, and Vinyl product lines. The Director will also oversee product testing and certification processes, manage inbound raw material quality from overseas vendors, and champion the integration of technology and artificial intelligence to enhance quality. Job Location * This position is hybrid, and this person must live in Tampa, FL (metro) or Knoxville, TN (metro). Job Responsibilities * Design and implement a national quality control framework tailored to facility-specific operations and product lines. * Establish and maintain quality standards and benchmarks for Decking, Aluminum, and Vinyl products. * Develop and enforce consistent quality policies and procedures across all facilities. * Oversee product testing protocols and ensure all products meet required certifications and regulatory standards. * Maintain documentation and audit trails for compliance with domestic and international quality regulations. * Manage quality assurance for inbound raw materials, particularly from overseas vendors. * Develop vendor quality scorecards and conduct regular supplier audits to ensure material consistency and reliability. * Lead the adoption of digital tools, automation, and artificial intelligence to improve quality monitoring, defect detection, and reporting. * Evaluate and implement smart inspection systems, predictive analytics, and machine learning models to enhance operational efficiency. * Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations. * Monitor and analyze quality metrics, identify trends, and implement corrective actions as needed. * Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting systems to track quality performance across facilities. * Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, highlighting areas of risk and opportunity. * Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Product Development teams to ensure quality is embedded throughout the product lifecycle. * Lead root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to reduce defects and improve product consistency. Job Requirements * Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (Master's preferred). * Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality control or assurance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. * Proven experience managing multi-site quality programs, preferably in manufacturing or building materials. * Strong knowledge of quality systems, standards (e.g., ISO), and regulatory requirements. * Experience with product testing, certification processes, and supplier quality management. * Familiarity with AI-driven quality tools, digital inspection systems, and data analytics platforms. * Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills. * Ability to travel up to 50% annually. Position Overview The batch person coordinates and conducts all concrete batching. They are responsible for general maintenance and cleanliness of all batch plant operations. They are expected to foster teamwork, a positive work environment and the overall safety of themselves and others. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty according to Preferred Materials guidelines and standards. § Maintains batch plant operations to ensure timely delivery of concrete. Verifies and correctly enters all mix designs on incoming tickets. § Monitors gauges, dials and operation of machinery to ensure conformance to processing specifications. § Receives driver feedback on concrete slumps to ensure proper specifications are being met. § Communicates and receives directions from dispatch, drivers, operators and customers via radio/phone or tablet. § Holds or attends safety meetings & reports any near misses as required. § Diagnoses and repairs basic batch plant equipment. The batch person reports any major maintenance or other plant related issues to plant manager/supervisor. They may coordinate the equipment and personnel for larger/complex repairs. § Accurately carries and stocks admixtures for batch plant. § Directs general operations of loader operator and loader. § Ability to be certified to operate the loader as needed. § Ability to obtain and maintain ACI and DOT Certifications. § Ability to accurately enter the driver's timesheets in the proper software systems. § Opens and closes the plant, as well as the security of the facility. § Maintains an acceptable attendance record in a flexible work schedule. § Maintains strict adherence to company policies, safety/OSHA requirements and procedures. § Performs other related duties as required or directed, which may include the ability to travel and work from other company facilities as needed. § Must possess a professional attitude while interacting with peers, contractors and general public. § Regularly climb up and down into or out of the cab of the vehicle, and climb up and down the rear ladder or rear access point of the vehicle during loading, unloading and/or vehicle wash down. § Stand for long periods of time performing loading and offloading of materials in hot weather or current conditions.
