Key Responsibilities: · Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot production equipment to ensure efficient and continuous operation. · Perform advanced equipment setups, changeovers, and minor mechanical adjustments as needed. · Lead or assist in training Production Operator I team members on processes, procedures, and safety practices. · Conduct in-depth quality inspections on raw materials, in-process items, and finished products to ensure compliance with product specifications. · Maintain accurate documentation of production activity, quality results, downtime, and material usage. · Collaborate with maintenance teams to identify, report, and support resolution of mechanical or technical issues. · Adhere to all plant safety procedures, quality guidelines, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HACCP, GMPs). · Ensure cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of production and equipment areas. · Support continuous improvement efforts, suggesting process enhancements to improve efficiency and product quality. · Assist in monitoring inventory levels and coordinating material flow to maintain uninterrupted production. Qualifications: · High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications preferred. · 2+ years of experience in manufacturing or production operations. · Demonstrated ability to operate and troubleshoot production equipment with minimal supervision. · Strong understanding of safety protocols, quality standards, and production workflows. · Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs and stand for long periods in a fast-paced environment. · Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills. · Strong attention to detail and the ability to document information accurately. · Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed. Job Description Hiring Bonus: $1000 after successful completion of 120 days and an acceptable attendance record Program and operate waterjet cutting machine to cut materials to various design specifications. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Operator operates the waterjet cutting equipment to cut parts according to specifications and blueprints. Accesses and uploads programming files. Adjust machine settings using CNC controls to achieve desired results. Loads and unloads materials using a forklift or overhead cranes. Monitor cutting operations to ensure accuracy and quality. Maintain and clean the waterjet cutting equipment to ensure optimal performance. Inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy using measuring tools (calipers, scale, tape, square, etc.). Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to ensure quality of productions. Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues. Report all machine malfunctions to Management and/or Maintenance. Work according to supervisor's direction to priorities and complete orders in a timely manner. Machine Center Operator - Swing Shift Vaagen Bros. Lumber Inc. is a family-owned wood products manufacturer that has operated in northeastern Washington for over 70 years. Vaagen Bros. currently employs over 175 employees. The primary role of the Machine Center Operator position is to assist in the production line of creating logs into lumber with a continued focus on safety, and productivity. Through cross training, the Machine Center Operator is expected to assist with positions across the mill. JOB DESCRIPTION: Know, Understand, and Apply the Lock-out Tag-out procedures for all applicable equipment Know, Understand, and Apply all aspects of the Quality Management System, and Standard Quality Control Procedures Monitor the quality of product and notify the appropriate personnel if substandard conditions exist Cross train on multiple machine centers, rolling stock, and departments Operates equipment safely and efficiently Performs mandatory pre-shift checklists and daily maintenance records Assist with preventive/predictive maintenance activities and cleaning Assist in training and mentoring of new employees Float between departments to assist in areas of greatest need Know, Understand, and Apply the Lock-out Tag-out procedures Entry level laborer sawmill duties, including but not limited to, stacking boards, general cleanup, removal of wood waste and debris, and tending machines Maintain a clean and safe work area.
