Overview
This is a PRN position.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The CardiacSonographer II follows established policies, procedures, and performs and records Echocardiology diagnostic tests independently as a registered diagnostic cardiacsonography in one patient population (Adult, Pediatric, Fetal). Obtains information about normal and abnormal anatomy used to diagnosis disease. Ensures echocardiogram exams are of acceptable quality and records results. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
* Associate in allied health that is patient care related or bachelor's degree (any
major) OR Completion of an Accredited Sonographer Program.
Experience:
* 1 year experience in transthoracic echocardiology
Other Licenses/Certifications:
* BLS certification through the American Heart Association
* Registered Diagnostic CardiacSonography from the
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered CardiacSonographer from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) in 1 patient population (Adult, Pediatrics, Fetal).
Other skills/knowledge:
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.

Essential Duties
CardiacSonography:

Accurately obtain and record measurements and images of cardiac structures and function for adults and pediatric patients.
Perform stress echocardiography, contrast echocardiography procedures, and assist with transverse esophageal echocardiography as needed.
Analyze and interpret sonographic data.

* Observes and practices sterile technique to prevent cross-contamination
* Travel maybe required to different facilities.
* Familiarizes patient with test to be performed and preparation for the test; obtains any relevant information from the patient and available clinical records.
* Adjusts equipment controls in accordance to diagnostic information requested and moves transducer, by hand, over patient's cardiac windows, observes ultrasound display screen, and listens to Doppler signals to acquire data for measurement of blood flow velocities.
* Differentiates artifacts from anatomic/pathologic structures and adjusts equipment; accordingly, recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized. Measures the appropriate echocardiogram structures as indicated.
* Measures cardiac wall thicknesses and chamber sizes and keys commands into computer to measure thicknesses and chamber sizes of heart, and compares measurement to standard norms to identify abnormalities in accordance to laboratory protocols.
* Measures blood flow velocities and calculates data such as cardiac physiology and valve areas for evaluation of cardiac function for physician interpretation per protocol.
* Documents and successfully transmits pertinent diagnostic and patient data into digital archive system, according to policy and procedure of Cardiovascular services department. Ensure that all documentation is timely, accurate and complete. Upon assessment of the examination findings, recognize the need for an urgent notification of critical findings to the appropriate healthcare provider.
* Maintain a safe work environment. Implements department/hospital policies for environmental safety, equipment maintenance standards and equipment operation standards.
* Maintains professional credentials that are specific to current practicing discipline. Completes required echo specific CME's that are needed to maintain professional credentials and adhere to accrediting body standards IAC.
* Participates in ongoing departmental QA process. Assists in the collection and correlation of data to ensure overall accuracy for accreditation. Keeps current in professional knowledge of vascular disease.
* Performs minor preventive maintenance on equipment and cleans and stocks labs.

Memorial Hospital Shiloh, a 94-bed, all-private suite hospital was recognized with Magnet status in 2018 and provides emergency care, labor & delivery, nursery, medical and surgical services plus critical care.

Performs echocardiographic examinations to assist in the diagnosis of heart disease according to established standards. Understands and integrates into the delivery of patient care the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and adult patients in regard to their growth and development process. The position actively supports the Hospital's and Department's Continuous Quality Improvement and customer service goals, individually and as an effective team member.

Essential Job Functions:
Performs echocardiographic studies within the spectrum of diagnoses seen in routine adult echocardiography, such as assessment of ventricular function, valve function, and pericardial effusion, without supervision.
Performs more straightforward studies of patients with simple congenital heart disease, such as assessment of shunt lesions in the presence of otherwise normal intra-cardiac relations, valvar obstructions, and assessment of the coronary arteries, with supervision.
Under supervision of the senior sonographers and physician supervisors, becomes progressively exposed to more complex forms of congenital heart disease.
Provides written communication under supervision, for use by divisional cardiologists only with the understanding that this does not constitute an official report.
Submits all studies to the physician supervisor for review prior to the patient's discharge from the laboratory.
After a suitable training period, and after demonstrating proficiency in performing independent studies, may be assigned to outreach clinic responsibilities and on-call duties
After suitable training, participates in the technical support of transesophageal studies.
After training or from prior experience in adult laboratories, may participate in the performance of stress echocardiography.
Responsible for daily lab maintenance tasks, such as, disinfecting all equipment and machines in exam rooms per Joint Commission standards, and stocking of supplies and linen.
Participates in lab teaching, operational and quality assurance meetings, and research projects as assigned.
Participates in organizing national conferences and IAC meetings.
Participates in the logging and billing of procedures
Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.
Demonstrates knowledge of pertinent aspects and competency with protocols related to the use of chemical disinfection, high level disinfection, and sterilization if required as part of the responsibilities of the role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Registered as ARDMS/CCI sonographer in Adult Echocardiography or Pediatric Echocardiography; or a graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program and resistry eligible.
Prior clinical experience in echocardiography, adult or pediatric, is required.
Basic Life Support Certification required. PALS strongly preferred.
Must be registered by ARDMS in Pediatric Echocardiography within 12 months of hire.
Ability to effectively communicate with hospital/department staff and parents/patients.
Acquires and analyzes data obtained using ultrasound and related diagnostic technologies. Provides a summary of findings to the physician to aid in patient diagnosis and management
Ability to use independent judgment and systematic problem-solving methods to produce high quality diagnostic information and optimize patient care.

Accurately obtain and record measurements and images of cardiac structures and function for adults and pediatric patients.
Perform stress echocardiography, contrast echocardiography procedures, and assist with transverse esophageal echocardiography as needed.
Analyze and interpret sonographic data.
Maintain and calibrate ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Starts IVs for imaging procedures.
Takes call for emergency testing on evenings, weekends, and holidays
Holter Monitor & Event Recorder:
Apply Holter monitors and event recorders to patients, ensuring proper electrode placement.
Educate patients on the use and care of monitoring devices.

Cardiovascular Medicine, PLLC is seeking an Echo Technologist to join our team. This position involves performing adult echocardiography, including contrast and saline bubble studies, as well as exercise and dobutamine stress echocardiography. If you are a skilled Registered Diagnostic CardiacSonographer (RDCS) or Registered CardiacSonographer (RCS) with a focus on high-quality patient care and diagnostic accuracy, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
Perform adult echocardiography, including:
Contrast and saline bubble studies.
Exercise and dobutamine stress echocardiography.
Conduct echocardiography according to established protocols and accreditation standards, ensuring high-quality results.
Contribute to preparation for ICAEL accreditation and attend quality improvement meetings.
Complete other duties as assigned to support the diagnostic team.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Experience:
Registered Diagnostic CardiacSonographer (RDCS) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or Registered CardiacSonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
Licenses, Registrations & Certifications:
RDCS or RCS certification (required).
Valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation (required).

Required: RDCS certification required
New graduates ARDMS required after 2 years of employment. For experienced echo sonographer, ARDMS required upon hire.
