Role Description:
Our Business Development Representatives (BDRs) develop logistical solutions for small to medium-sized businesses using the full suite of ShipBob's services. A BDR's primary responsibility is to evaluate each merchant's unique business needs and set qualified meetings that convert to closed deals for our Account Executives. They achieve their monthly quota by meeting or exceeding expected metrics for outbound touches and demos set and converted.
The BDR role is a great fit for candidates looking to develop their skills and grow within their sales career. You'll start your first month at ShipBob with a comprehensive onboarding program designed to set you up for success. You'll learn the ins and outs of the role through industry, product, and sales training, practice your skills, and shadow experienced BDRs. Not only will this role give you a hands-on learning experience in ShipBob's product offering, but it will also provide the opportunity to master advanced CRM platforms like Salesforce, Outreach, Gong, and 6Sense. In addition to CRM expertise, you'll develop valuable hard skills such as data analysis for sales insights, prospecting strategies, negotiation techniques, and consultative selling methods-building a strong foundation for long-term success in a sales career. This role will report into the Business Development Manager.
What you'll do:
Guide new business by identifying, researching, and qualifying new opportunities weekly, resulting in 10+ prospects added to your book of business per day.
Prospect a prospect pipeline via high volume of outbound cold calls, emails and social selling (e.g. >50 dials, 5 connected calls, and 20+ minutes of talk time daily).
Identify client needs through assessing their current fulfillment methods and use discretionary judgment to determine if they are a fit for our business model.
Make recommendations to management from merchants who do not "fit the box".
Schedule demos with potential merchants and Account Executives.
Achieving daily activity requirements through outbound merchant contact and accurately tracking merchant interactions and information in the designated tracking system.
Report to designated manager/team lead to strategize more effective prospecting methods.
Consistently exceed monthly and annual quota.

ShipBob believes in transparency while providing a competitive total compensation package with a pay for performance approach. We are targeting a base salary of $55,000 for this role. The Account Executive, Inside Sales, is a key contributor to Tripleseat's mission to drive new business across the SMB and Unique Venues segments. This hybrid role is based in the Boston office and emphasizes inside sales strategies to prospect, engage, and close new customers. The Account Executive applies a consultative sales approach to understand prospect needs, deliver compelling product demonstrations, and present customized solutions for various hospitality venues, including restaurants, hotels, breweries, country clubs, and other unique event spaces.
This role requires a highly motivated individual with a passion for hospitality and technology and a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, short-cycle sales environment.
Location: Boston Sales Office: Work in the office Monday through Thursday, and work remotely on Fridays. Initial onboarding is conducted at the Concord, MA headquarters.
Travel Expectations: Minimal travel is required, with occasional trips for company events, trade shows, or training sessions.
Core Responsibilities
Prospecting & Lead Generation
Proactively identifies and engages new sales opportunities through outbound calls, emails, social media, and inbound lead follow-up.
Builds virtual relationships with prospects across assigned territories and verticals.
Targets high-impact venues and organizations that align with Tripleseat's business goals.
Customer Engagement & Demonstrations
Conducts discovery calls to uncover prospect needs and pain points.
Delivers both virtual and occasional in-person software demonstrations, customized to the audience.
Crafts proposals that communicate product value and return on investment.
Sales Execution & Pipeline Management
Consistently meets or exceeds assigned revenue quotas through strategic outreach and deal management.
Maintains a healthy, qualified pipeline, targeting 5x coverage relative to quota.
Records all prospect engagement and deal activity in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) for accurate forecasting.
Collaboration & Strategy
Collaborates with internal teams, including Marketing, Account Management, Customer Support, and Sales Development, to ensure a seamless sales process.
Executes go-to-market strategies tailored to specific territories or market segments.
Leverages existing industry relationships when appropriate.
Negotiation & Closing
Prepares customized proposals and negotiates contracts that balance customer satisfaction and business goals.
Manages follow-up communications to drive deal closure and maintain momentum.
Market & Product Expertise
Stays current on industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor offerings.
Shares valuable customer feedback with internal teams to enhance product offerings and positioning.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Sales Expertise: Demonstrated success in achieving or exceeding sales goals within SaaS or inside sales environments.

Qualifications
At least 1 year of phone sales experience in financial services or a related field, including closing experience on the product sold.
Experience managing a customer pipeline and driving deals to close.
Ability to register as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) in the NMLS shortly after hire; multi-state licensing may be required.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Comfortable using G Suite tools (Gmail, Calendar, etc.); CRM experience (like Salesforce) is a plus.
Familiarity with U.S. real estate or mortgage processing is helpful but not required.
Strong computer skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

Must be able to travel for two mandatory onsite events per year.

To support new hires during their ramp-up period, we provide a $1,500 monthly commission guarantee for the first 3 months. Most Account Managers ramp up within 3-4 months, and from there, commissions typically increase as they gain experience and confidence in the sales process.

About The Team
The Customer Success organization is composed of three teams: pre-sales, customer success, and support. The Pre-Sales Consultant will join a team of trusted partners to our Account Executives, working closely with prospective clients through new business sales cycles to demonstrate the value of our platform and help drive new revenue. Pre-Sales Consultants combine deep product knowledge, commercial acumen, industry experience, and strong client intuition to run high-impact evaluations.
