Working alongside members of the North Valley Rural Tobacco Project Team, the Health Promotions Intern will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease, through research, education, and advocacy.
The intern will assist the North Valley Tobacco Project in executing health promotion and tobacco prevention activities to gain experience in the field of outreach, education, evaluation, health policy, and community organizing in the context of tobacco prevention. The intern will support Smokefree Multi-Unit Housing and Smokefree Outdoor Air campaign efforts in Gridley (Butte County), and Marysville (Yuba County). In collaboration with the project team, the intern will attend community events, assist in data collection, and participate in workgroup meetings.
This is a paid internship position requiring a minimum time commitment of 10 - 15 hours per week (flexible schedule) and may be eligible for course credit. This position is for Spring 2026. The hourly rate for this position is $18.00 per hour.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
It will be the responsibility of the Adoption Counselor to perform adoption counseling and animal care services for Butte Humane Society (BHS) under the direction of the department manager. Individuals in this classification will perform various tasks related to animal care, counseling potential adopters, administrative duties, customer service, and animal handling for both shelter cats and dogs. Individuals will be expected to provide prompt and courteous customer service as well as conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
