Have experience in landfill cover and/or liner design, and construction, including review of submittals and quality control/quality assurance testing. Have experience working on Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and/or Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) projects. Candidate must be well organized and has drive to move into technical leadership and/or project management role. Able to work on technical project work while absorbing management duties. Support senior managers with the preparation and review of project documents and ensure quality, budget, and schedule are met. Streamline processes to produce more efficient final reviews for senior managers. Maintain electronic filing system for Program use, following document control processes. Communicate deficiencies in project delivery to the senior manager or program manager. Track deliverables and project action items and update weekly. Assist project manager in tracking schedules and budgets. What Required Skills You'll Bring: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or related field) and typically 8+ years of related work experience Professional Engineering License (PE) will be required (or other related certifications) Working knowledge of CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required. You will perform or develop structural evaluations, analyses, calculations, design drawings, recommendations, and specifications for engineered systems or products for projects verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/practices. Your Key Responsibilities Perform preliminary and detailed structural analysis and design for Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants, Reservoirs, other Hydraulic Containment Facilities, Industrial and Administrative Buildings Design, analyze and specify primarily reinforced concrete, masonry and structural steel systems and buildings Support an engineering Team responsible for evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering all structural engineered systems or products for a project Support an engineering Team responsible for the preparation and revisions to documentation in various structural phases including conceptual design, detailed design, and construction support. Engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats Utilize computing technologies for the development of three-dimensional models of structural systems Support project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors Support preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents Prepare structural calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software Assist in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, and drafting correspondence. Assist in the development of new standards and specifications for the structural group Work on multiple projects, simultaneously Review Contractor's shop drawing and submittals regarding structural work and investigating and developing engineered solutions to Contractor's Requests for Information. Assist technical staff in field activities including structural observations, monitoring and other fieldwork Working in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies. Your Capabilities and Credentials Collegiate-level knowledge and application of structural design codes and standards (CBC/IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318 and/or ACI 350, TMS 402, AISC 360), and the application of these provisions Introductory understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications Fundamental knowledge of structural mechanics and principles, structural systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards Ability to manage time to meet project budget and schedule Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought Effective oral and written communication skills Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite Working knowledge of 3D models and 2D structural engineering drawings using Revit and AutoCad and the ability to produce models or drawings Experience using structural engineering/finite element analysis software such as STAAD, RAM, SAP2000, RISA is preferred Education and Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering required; Master's degree preferred Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience Engineer Intern (EI) certification in Ohio required. Typical office environment working with computers. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
