Surgical technologists, also called scrubs and surgical or operating room technicians, assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. Surgical technologists are members of operating room teams, which most commonly include surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
A graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
Must be certified to perform CPR with 0-2 years of clinical experience in a related field.
Orthopedic, GI, Ophthalmology (or multispecialty) experience preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures.
Before an operation, surgical technologists help prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.
Follows hospital regulations and industry procedures to tend to patient during pre-operation procedures.
Performs pre-operation preparations to the patient's skin, body and medical equipment.
Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment, as well as adjust and check it to ensure it is working properly.
Get patients ready for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites.
Transport patients to the operating room, help position them on the operating table, and cover them with sterile surgical “drapes.”
Observe patients' vital signs, check charts, and assist the surgical team with putting on sterile gowns and gloves.
Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgeon assistants.
Hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. Help prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis and help apply dressings.
Operate sterilizers, lights, or suction machines, and help operate diagnostic equipment.
After an operation, help transfer patients to the recovery room and clean and restock the operating room.
Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Ability to be on your feet for long periods and lift or turn disabled patients.

Physician Eyecare Group Clinical Duties
The Physician Eyecare Group (PEG) provides all clinical services for a store, and PEG doctors provide supervision, direction and guidance to the Doctor s Technicians to regarding but not limited to Diagnostic Pre-Testing, and Digital Refraction, Contact Lens care and executing all PEG clinical standards.
Meet all training guidelines, procedures, protocols, and certification requirements and clinical standards developed by the Physician Eyecare Group.
The role will also require this person to communicate effectively with the supervising PEG physician for all direction and guidance with regards to patientcare within their store.
Achieve desired daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly PEG goals.
Operational Duties
Deliver an outstanding patient experience, collaborating with other team members to accomplish store goals, clinical metrics and initiatives.
Greet our patients as they enter the store, identify patients' needs to ensure an easy and memorable experience while providing information about available products and services.
Answer customers' inquiries and gather necessary information to ensure a positive experience.
Schedule and confirm appointments
Assist with patient complaint resolution and inform the status of pending orders; ensure all patient expectations are met.
Ensure brand standards by performing basic housekeeping duties when necessary.
Maintain patient records confidential and secure in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
Other duties as assigned and required.
Key Qualifications
You have a high school diploma or equivalent.
You have 2+ years of experience delivering outstanding customer service to patients and/or customers.

Care Giver:

Assists in checking medication regardless of packaging system.
Counts all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
Maintains and cleans the Medication Room, med charts, treatment carts for neatness cleanliness, availability of medications and expired medications.
Follows re-fill process for medications.
Participates in the development of the Service Plan and monthly updates.
Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse and respiration rates.
Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks and hazardous chemicals immediately.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures.
* Before an operation, surgical technologists help prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Required Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : The successful candidate must possess the minimum qualifications stated below: Any Bachelor's or higher AND two years of experience in emergency medical technology and any certificates or license required to do that work OR any Associate's degree AND any six years of experience in emergency medical technology AND any certificate or license required to do that work OR the equivalent. Equivalency Requirement: All applicants are required to meet the minimum qualifications specified by the Yuba Community College District ( YCCD ) by the application filing date.
