**Qualifications Snapshot**

**Required** : Graduation from an accredited school in Ultrasound Sonography or equivalent education/experience to meet ARDMS certification requirements. Bachelor's degree in Ultrasound Technology preferred.
**_Credentials_**
+ **Required (within 1 year):** Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
+ **Required:** Current certification/licensure as mandated by the state for your modality.
+ **Required (upon hire):** Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

**About the Role**
As a Cardiac Sonographer, you'll perform diagnostic and specialized ultrasound procedures, applying your expertise in acoustic imaging and clinical cardiology to ensure accurate and comprehensive evaluations. You'll support both inpatient and outpatient care across our Northwest Network, including Bellingham, and our satellite locations in Lynden, Sedro-Woolley, Anacortes, and Friday Harbor. Successful candidates will be expected to meet travel assignments within these areas.

Under general supervision, the Ultrasound Technologist will perform diagnostic ultrasound exams and interventional procedures on appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the individual site radiologist. Specific Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostic sonographic imaging on appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the individual site radiologist, while using independent judgment to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
Assist radiologist in performing interventional procedures such as biopsies, aspirations and drainage procedures.
Prepare preliminary reports and contact referring physician when needed.

Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS required.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: St. Charles Health System Diagnostic Imaging Departments perform X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, and PET/CT exams in a variety of locations. We work closely with our partners at Cascade Medical Imaging to meet the imaging needs of our community and to support the ED, OR, Inpatient Floors, and Family Birthing Center.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Ultrasound Technologist performs all Ultrasound studies and related procedures at a technical level not requiring direct supervision in accordance with established department and hospital guidelines. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Performs diagnostic and interventional ultrasound examinations in accordance with department policies, procedures, and protocols.
Follows Health and Safety Policies and Procedures of quality patient care.
Assists in record maintenance and statistics as requested.
Participates in student training program as requested.
Assists with special projects as requested.

EDUCATION:
Required: High school diploma or GED. Graduate eligible and Registry eligible of an accredited Ultrasound training program.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
Required: Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Registry or Registry eligible (OB/GYN, Abdominal and Physics). Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) license required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA BLS/CPR).
Preferred: Additional registry through ARDMS such as: Pediatric Sonography (PS), Vascular Technology (RVT), or Musculoskeletal Sonography (RMSKS).
EXPERIENCE:

Preferred: One (1) year full-time experience as a registered Ultrasound Technologist.

REQUIREMENTS:
· BLS Required
· General experience required - vascular experience preferred
· Excellent written/verbal communication skills
· Strong organizational and leadership skills
· Strong technical skills to include MS Office, Imaging software and EMR platforms
· Professionalism and compassion a MUST!
· Registry encouraged
· Have own vehicle that can hold and carry needed equipment
**THIS POSITION REQUIRES REGULAR REGIONAL TRAVEL AS WELL AS NATIONAL TRAVEL ON OCCASION TO DESIGNATED FIRE/POLICE DEPARTMENT LOCATIONS**
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Scanning organs for early detection of cancer and other medical issues
· Will cross-train for Echo as needed
· Keep up with pending charts and properly export images per policy
· Other duties as assigned
