Job Description Summary We are looking for a Quality Control Technician candidate to cover our plants in our Ulster, Orange and Sullivan county markets. The candidate will be responsible for performing quality control testing and monitoring of ready-mix concrete, crushed aggregates, recycled materials, and hot mix asphalt mixtures produced at their assigned location. Key Responsibilities include: * Work safely, complying with all OSHA and MSHA regulations and Callanan environmental, health and safety policies and procedures. * Perform quality control testing as required by State and local agencies, private, and in accordance with Callanan procedures ensuring the highest quality material is being produced. * Provide test data to plant manager and other pertinent plant personnel in a timely manner. * Provide process and mix adjustment recommendations as required. * Maintain current State agency QC/QA certifications, upholding all aspects of the quality control program and staying in compliance with agency specifications. * Maintain accurate and up-to-date database and record logs. * Support and assist internal customers (sales, construction, estimating, operations, and senior management) and external customers by reviewing and providing detailed information/insight on material specifications and test results as requested. * Additional duties as assigned or required. * Overtime and/or night work, and weekend work may be required during the peak season. * Regular and predictable attendance Requirements * Ability to read English language sufficiently to read information contained in specifications, reports, manuals and regulations. * Ability to communicate effectively with and work well with other personnel. * Ability to carry out standardized laboratory tests in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO standards. * Ability to evaluate questions or problems effectively, seeking assistance when needed. * Must be computer literate. The primary result expected from the Quality Control Technician will be to assure product quality by preparing samples, conducting quality control inspection and testing of components, dispersions, and finished goods, determining adjustments for batches that do not conform to requirements, documenting inspections, and insuring calibration of testing equipment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * Perform testing of production batches, incoming raw materials, finished goods, and components to determine conformance to specifications. * Judge as "fit for release" production batches, incoming raw materials, finished goods, and components that are in conformance to all specifications and visually acceptable. * Determine and communicate batch adjustments for any batches that do not conform to requirements, utilizing batch history, adjustment guidelines, and consultation with the Senior QC Technician, Assistant Supervisor, or QC Manager. * Perform validation testing during filling to insure integrity of finished goods, including labeling, packaging, and fill weights. * Communicate current status of inspections to Senior Technicians, Assistant Supervisor, or QC Manager. * Communicate issues with work instructions and procedures to Senior Technicians, Assistant Supervisor, or QC Manager. * Document inspection results. Reporting to the Component Quality Supervisor, this candidate will be working in a fast-paced electronics distribution center/laboratory and will support the activities of the Converge Trading Business Unit. The Component Quality Inspector provides ongoing support to our customers by ensuring prompt, accurate and efficient delivery and receipt of all sales and purchase orders. Verifies records on all incoming and outgoing shipments. Data Entry using a PC to process orders and log inventory. What You'll Be Doing: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify accuracy of information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, and or other records. Extract items from staging rack and counts items to verify packaging and shipping accordingly. Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons. Performs inbound inspection of electronic components by using basic inspection equipment (microscope), counting and picking/packing equipment.
