In 1970, Olen Yandell owned a struggling dairy farm called the Circle-Y, just north of Azle, off FM 730, next to Eagle Mountain Lake.
In 1989, California opened Pelican Bay State Prison, equipped with 1,056 cells explicitly designed to keep California’s alleged “worst of the worst” prisoners in long-term solitary confinement, under conditions of extreme sensory deprivation.
