DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Corrections Counselor 2, you will be responsible for providing a variety of complex counseling and casework services to inmates who demonstrate significantly disruptive, violent, or insubordinate behavior. Work involves conducting individual and group counseling sessions where you will utilize various techniques to help inmates address their social, economic, and emotional challenges. You will be responsible for utilizing aptitude and interest tests as well as assessment scores to determine risk levels and coordinate treatment objectives by collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams. Within this role you will also be responsible for facilitating compliance and behavioral change through the implementation of programming inclusive to expectations regarding work and housing, overall behavior, academic and vocational programming, and recommended programming based on needs and assessments. You will have the opportunity to participate in parole planning as well as make recommendations regarding re-entry services. Special Requirements: * You must obtain Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certification within two months of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this job. Other Requirements: * Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. * You must meet the PA residency requirement. Peer Counselor: $47,320 annually; $26 Per Hour Position Summary Assist the In-Reach Social Worker in conducting outreach to individuals in impacted adult homes prepare for discharge to community housing. Make recommendations for community housing and related supports that are consistent with their informed decision about housing and supports and their capabilities. Essential Functions Assist the In-Reach Social Worker in admission screening of applicants. Provide peer counseling to individuals in impacted adult homes. Provide education to individuals and their related providers regarding community housing options and community services so that they may arrive at an informed decision about their housing goals. Identify supportive community resources to assist individuals being discharged from adult homes to supported housing. Conduct entitlement workshops in adult homes. Motivate individuals and provide counseling on expectations in supported housing (i.e. money management, lease agreement, ADLs). Provide education to individuals in impacted adult homes regarding the supported housing program. Assist In-Reach Social Worker in conducting ADLs and interpersonal skills training. Understand the range of housing options and related supports available in New York State. Assist in the development of policies and forms to improve the delivery of health and psychiatric services.     The Trauma Counselor provides direct support to victims of sexual assault and other violent crimes. The role involves individual and group counseling, program development, and educating about the impacts of trauma and violence. Starting Salary: $50,000/per year Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide ongoing individual counseling to child, adolescent, and adult victims and their significant others. Participate in planning, developing, and implementing various support groups and activities for children, teens, and adults. Respond to the agency hotline and perform intake interviews as necessary. Build and sustain collaborative relationships with other community resources, and represent our agency at local alliance and coalition meetings and events as needed. Maintain statistics, reports, and documentation as needed for all direct services using the victim services database and other electronic systems as they are developed. Evaluate incoming clients to estimate the expected duration of treatment. Follow accepted ethical standards as outlined in the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), American Counseling Association (ACA), or American Psychological Association (APA) Code of Ethics, depending on your graduate training. Offer training sessions tailored to the dynamics of victimization for volunteers, staff, and other community professionals. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree in counseling, psychology, or social work required. Minimum two years post-graduate experience working with trauma victims preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of sexual assault and incest dynamics and appropriate interventions preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of the needs of victims of sexual violence and other violent crimes. Knowledge of community social service resources is helpful. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required. TSINY, a non-profit mental health services agency seeks Part-time Night Counselor for one of its Apartment Program, located in Bellerose (Queens County), NY. Position: Part- time, 14 hours weekly. Salary: $22 hourly NYS Drivers License with a clean record required High School Diploma or Equivalent required Position Summary Provide oversight of the program on the overnight shift. Responsible for completing room checks and determining that all residents are accounted for. Conduct chart audits and maintain resident back charts. Provide crisis management in the overnight hours and are responsible for getting the residents up in the morning and ready for daytime activities. Essential Functions Converse with shift going off duty for any pertinent information, i.e., appointments, overall residents' behaviors, changes in medication, etc. Inform residents of medical/psychiatric or financial appointments. Supervise morning medication. Initial medication book immediately after each individual medication is given to a resident. Follow procedure in accordance to change of shift checklist and sign. Do a room check to determine the number of residents in the facility and status of each resident. Ensure that residents' beds are made before exiting facility. If taking a call-in, record staff absence and/or lateness in Call-in Book. Check staff revised schedules. Check E-mail. Check personal mailbox. Intervene in resident crisis management. Assist residents with meal preparation when needed. Report any pertinent information regarding residents and facility to shift supervisor throughout your shift. Document in Communication Book any pertinent information regarding residents. Follow procedure in accordance to change of shift check list with on-coming shift and sign change of shift checklist where needed. Monitor residents' bathing, showering and hygiene as needed. File all chart items into the appropriate charts. Facilitate back charting Medication reviews - check Medication Book for initials. Meet with supervisor as scheduled. Participate and supervise residents during fire drills. Thoroughly inspect assigned residents' rooms for safety measures and report any damages or problems to shift supervisor. Conduct monthly chart review, reviewing charts as assigned by supervisor. CPR/First Aid training Make copies of new forms that come in and dispose of old ones so all forms are most recent. Call in refills of meds. Prepare information for shredding. Conduct chart audits. Do regular building tours (check for cleanliness and needed repairs). Check on all residents. Complete work orders. Incident reports completed on same day of incident and report given to shift supervisor or administrators. Submit receipts for petty cash spent. Inform residents of appointments. Attend special on-site and off-site training, seminars, conferences, etc. Availability to residents on an as needed and crisis basis. Submit request for time off, at least two weeks in advance. Check revised schedules for possible changes in hours/shifts and for holiday coverage. Return correspondence that states, "Sign and return." Familiarization with personnel policy, emergency manuals, and training manual. Provide supervision for residents during dining hours. Make sure residents are dressed appropriately before leaving the facility. Be able to sit or stand as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation. May require walking, primarily on a level surface, for short periods throughout the day, with or without reasonable accommodation. Be able to reach above shoulder heights, below the waist or lift as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday, with or without reasonable accommodation. Driver's license required. During a declared disaster, assume and adhere to assigned Job Action role(s) consistent with Disaster Preparedness Plan. Perform other related duties as required.
