Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers.
Operations
Under the supervision by the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions. Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow.
Reports, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adheres to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
Strictly adheres to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required. Takes customer to OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.
Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and performs other clerical duties, as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Assists and supports Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as, ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals. Maintains knowledge of Company asset protection techniques, and files claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received, but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed, but not received), order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required; assists pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
Assists Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, by medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities.
Assists with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance.
Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration. Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.
Attends training and completes PPLs requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits. Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
Prefer good computer skills.
Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.
Prefer PTCB certification.

Job Description:
Support the Virtual Pharmacy team in the development and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures that improve clinical outcomes, maximize resource utilization, and improve performance on clinical quality measures.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
* Conduct patient outreach to provide medication refill reminders, medication affordability resources, identify and address barriers to adherence, address gaps in care, and enroll patients in disease management programs.

Job Description
Nature of Positions:
Positions are located throughout the Department of Public Health including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital & Trauma Center (ZSFG), San Francisco County Jails, both in San Francisco and in San Bruno, Community Behavioral Health Services, as well as various clinics and Health Centers located throughout the City and County of San Francisco. Some positions may require employees to work directly with individuals within locked jails and psychiatric facilities, the homeless population and individuals who may have or may be carriers of infectious/communicable diseases.
Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician supports the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients served by the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Assists registered pharmacists in performing nonprofessional duties in an institutional pharmacy; receives, inspects, stores, and fills orders for pharmaceutical supplies. Nature of work involves continuous close attention to detail and some potential exposure to hazardous substances.
Under supervision, the Pharmacy Technician performs the following essential job functions:
Accurately prepares unit dose medications, compounds a variety of pharmaceuticals under the supervision of a Pharmacist, including intravenous admixtures according to proper aseptic technique and in accordance with, professional standards and departmental policies and procedures, in order to maintain required levels of supply and to provide patients with needed medications;
Prepares or repackages drugs and pharmaceuticals under the supervision of a Pharmacist, in amounts needed to fill written orders/prescriptions in order to provide patients with needed medication and to maintain required levels of supply;
Prepares medication labels based on written orders from physicians and other professional staff according to California State Board of Pharmacy requirements;
Records billing information for accurate and appropriate billing of patients for medications, involving use of desktop computer keyboard for entering medication orders and billing information;
Maintains drug and pharmaceutical stock levels by counting and checking stores of drugs and pharmaceuticals against standard, pre-set stock levels, ordering and verifying deliveries against invoices to ensure accuracy;
Inspects and stores delivered stock in the pharmacy patient care areas by sorting and shelving them for optimal retrieval;
Delivers, retrieves, and exchanges medications and pharmaceutical items to and from specified areas, or for dispensing by cart to ensure that clinical and patient needs are met;
Provides information to patients, public and other healthcare providers within the scope of Technician activities through a variety of methods, including personal contact, at the Pharmacy window, in patient care areas, and by telephone or video. This does not include medication counseling or providing drug information;
Orients and trains new personnel, pharmacy students, or others on departmental policies and procedures appropriate to a Technician's scope of work;
Uses, maintains, and troubleshoots automated dispensing equipment or relevant pharmacy-related software and other equipment necessary for pharmacy operations;
Accurately prepares, dispenses, and documents controlled substance orders, and maintains accurate inventory records.
The 2409 Pharmacy Technician also performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience:
One (1) year (equivalent to 2,000 hours) of experience (in the last 5 years) assisting in the preparation of drug and pharmaceutical items in a licensed pharmacy;

License:
Possession of a valid Pharmacy Technician License/Registration issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy. (Please attach a copy)
License status must be "Current" according to

Substitution: Possession of a valid Intern Pharmacist License/Registration issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy may substitute for the required experience and license.

Supervise inventory management through analysis of optimization reports (cycle count, stock outs, etc) and responsible for monthly report of inventory control of all pharmaceuticals, supplies and contract compliance. Oversees invoice and billing process for opportunities in cost containment and reduction of costs and ensure accuracy of GPO contract pricing. Report this to Director of Pharmacy on a monthly summary.
Quality assurance and compliance: audit compound recipes, bulk ingredient logs and cleaning logs routinely to ensure compliance. Work with Pharmacy Ops Manager to ensure USP 797and 800 compliance for compounding. Perform monthly waste audit and assist in controlled drug audits as needed.
Finance: responsible for the daily review of revenue/usage, monthly and annual inventory, working closely with buyers for a smooth annual inventory. Work with Director and designee on monthly and fiscal year budget by reviewing weekly/ monthly analysis of volume and charges, as well as labor and budget control. Work closely with 340B coordinator with auditing and compliance with purchases.
In addition to performing the essential functions listed, may also be assigned other duties as required.
Required:
High School Diploma. Minimum of two years of college and/ or advanced pharmacy technician practice (minimum of 3yrs) required.
Prefer: in a supervisory role.
Required: current technician registration with the California State Board of Pharmacy.
Required: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT), PTCB certified, and minimum of three years' experience as Pharmacy Technician
Preferred: buyer/inventory management experience and 340B program knowledge/ experience, completion of 340B University on demand certificate preferred.
