The PlantOperator Supervisor will be responsible for the daily operations of a sophisticated automated wastewater pretreatment plant. The Operator Supervisor will be required to ensure that all equipment operates properly and that all liquid chemical levels remain within tolerance. The Operator Supervisor should have experience working with wastewater treatment equipment, Pumps, Motors, Mixers, Tanks, Filter Presses, and PLC/SCADA control equipment. The Operator Supervisor will always work under the direct supervision of the Plant Manager.
**Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:**
+ Will be required to wear various PPE when necessary. PPE to include, but not limited to, (Tyvek Suits, Acid Rated Suits, Full Face Respirator, Dust Mask, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Gloves).
+ Will be required to perform Confined Space Entry on tanks & floor pits (as needed).
+ Will be required to shovel out various tanks and sludge boxes (as needed).
+ Will be required to perform calibrations on pH & ORP Meters.
+ Will be required to perform minor maintenance on various pieces of equipment when needed.
+ Will be required to clean Plate & Frame Filter Presses (as needed).
+ Will be required to do all annual trainings that are required by the contract.
**Requirements:**
+ High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
+ Individuals performing within a supervisor-type role shall possess at a minimum four (4) years of experience in supervising operators working in an industrial wastewater pretreatment or chemical process plant.
+ Will be required to lift & carry 50lb. bags of chemicals up ladders & stairs to mixing tanks.
+ Will be required to climb ladders & stairs to perform plant checks every 2 hours.
+ Will be required to pass Respiratory Fit Testing as outlined in 29 CFR 1910.134 (fit testing is performed annually as required by our contract).
+ Shall be knowledgeable in how to use Human-Machine Interface (HMI)/ SCADA software, which operates the applicable portions of the Plant. This software is run on various computers that are located in the Plant office and in the plants.
+ Must hold a current Association of Boards of Certification (ABC) Class III or higher Wastewater Treatment or equivalent certification.
+ Must be fluent in the English language, both verbally and in writing, and be able to read and understand English.
+ Must be a U.S. citizen.
+ Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.

Essential Functions:
* As directed by the Lead Engineers or Assistant Chief Engineer, the incumbent performs inspections, maintenance (preventative and predictive), trouble shooting, and repair of campus thermal systems (including but not limited to steam, chilled water, and heating water), related plant equipment, water treatment systems (including but not limited to natatorium systems, boiler systems, and chiller systems) as well as maintenance and repair of domestic water & sewer campus distribution systems, and campus gas utility distribution systems to assure the fitness for use and reliability of our buildings, systems and equipment to assure the fitness for use and reliability of our buildings, systems and equipment in support of the service, research and academic mission of the university. Completes training as required regarding the above systems. Operates and maintains utility systems to meet department, reliability and energy efficiency objectives along with regulatory compliance requirements.
* Maintain records pertaining to the inspection, operation, maintenance and repair of campus utilities systems, and related plant equipment to build a database from which historical data can be used to optimize scheduling and repair of critical components of the heating and cooling systems. Make recommendations to improve the efficiency and reliability of campus managed utility systems. Responsible for the proper storage and usage of tools and equipment used in the repair operations to ensure the availability of an adequate operating inventory of tools and supplies.
* Performs Inspections of campus utilities systems, and related plant equipment tests to insure that boiler and chiller water system chemistry is within the acceptable limits and maintains proper chemical water treatment through the knowledge and application of approved training provided by the chemical distributor.
* Supports in the resolution of after-hours and weekend request received though the customer response center line (2Fix).
* Completes training and performance requirements to meet department goals as well as regulatory requirements. Maintains an IDP (Individual Development Plant). Ensures all items are documented in the LMS (Learning Management System)

**Primary Purpose of Position**
We are a looking for a Control Room Operator to join our team. This person will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a cogeneration plant and its systems during their shift. This position is located in Washington, DC. The Combined Heat & Power (CHP) Facility consists of three Solar Mercury 50 combustion turbines, three Rentech Heat Recovery Steam Generators, one Cleaver-Brooks auxiliary boiler, and associated auxiliary equipment (compressors, pumps, etc.)
**Primary Duties and Accountabilities**
+ Monitor, record, and trend readings from the plant control system and steam generating equipment.
+ Monitor gas turbine control panels to ensure proper operation of turbine equipment.
+ Perform all required plant water chemistry analysis, adjust as necessary to maintain chemistry control within the plant specified limits.
+ Operate the plant in a safe and efficient manner, following all procedures, health and safety guidelines, and current operating practices.
+ Monitor instrumentation readings for variances from prescribed standards, adjusting as necessary to maintain proper equipment operation, and record abnormalities in the control room log.
+ Maintain required records including the control room logbook and lockout/tagout log.
+ Inspect equipment at regular intervals to identify malfunctions, repair needs, or unsafe conditions, and report issues beyond the troubleshooting or repair capabilities of shift personnel to management.
+ Support safety by correcting hazards such as leaks, slip hazards, or deficiencies, and by monitoring maintenance activities to ensure proper plantoperation.
+ Perform minor maintenance, outage repairs, and equipment testing, and assist with cleanliness of plant spaces and common areas.

You are not just fixing things; you are the primary technical expert responsible for maximizing production uptime.
What You'll Do:Precision Rotating Equipment Service: Execute preventive maintenance (PM) and perform complex, precision repairs on screw conveyors, bucket elevators, mixer drums, and material pumps.
Expertise includes bearing replacement, shaft alignment, belt/chain tensioning, and seal installation on rotating machinery.
Batch Plant System Repair: Troubleshoot, repair, and replace components integral to the batching process, including material gates, pneumatic actuators, air compressors, and various types of feeders and scales.
Heavy Component Rebuilds: Conduct scheduled maintenance and critical failure rebuilds on major processing equipment, including servicing agitator blades in mixers, replacing wear parts in screw conveyor troughs, and overhauling large water/slurry pumps.
Fabrication and Structural Repair: Independently perform heavy-duty field welding (SMAW and/or GMAW) to repair and reinforce structural components, including hoppers, silos, chutes, and plant framing, ensuring compliance with Vulcan's rigorous safety and quality standards.
Advanced Troubleshooting: Utilize hydraulic and pneumatic schematics to diagnose and repair control systems for flow gates, valves, and material delivery components.
