Are you living your life's work? Summary: + Under the direction of the radiologist, the MR technologist performs a variety of MR procedures on pediatric and adult patients. They have the ability to perform all MR procedures requiring sound understanding of anatomical positioning, magnetic field safety and cross-sectional anatomy. Responsibilities: + Obtains patient history, explains the procedure, gains consent for contrast material administration and address any patient concerns prior to beginning the procedure. + Performs all necessary checks for accuracy of the prescription, precertification/authorization if required by individual insurance companies, Soarian order and patient identification. + Perform all MR procedures following the appropriate imaging protocols. + Compiles and reviews images, provides applicable comparison studies, and prepares documentation for interpretation. + Performs quality control testing as required. + Clean, adjust and perform routine maintenance on equipment; stock and replenish supplies as required. Credentials: + Amer Registry Radiologic Tech (Required) + Advanced level certification in MRI (MR) within 1 (one) year of hire. + Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required) Education or Equivalent Experience: + H.S. Obtains medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse. Verifies the correct patient by checking the patient's identification and validating proof of identity. Prepares patient for the procedure and provides necessary instructions. Performs basic patient care functions and informs appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition. Evaluates technical quality of exams, develops and utilizes various techniques for elevated quality and efficiency within the department. Differentiates artifacts from anatomical or pathological structures and recognizes imaging abnormalities and performs additional imaging as needed. Physical Requirements Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies. Required to assist all patients throughout their exam. Strenuous physical effort may be required while assisting patients from wheelchairs and stretchers. Work requires unrestricted walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, twisting, pushing and pulling. Must be able to read and understand patient orders and technical materials. Motor coordination needed to operate heavy and delicate equipment. Intact sense of sight and hearing for distances of up to 20 feet is necessary. As an MRI Technologist, you will perform a variety of MRI and MRA procedures, uphold patient safety protocols and assist the Radiologists with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. As a key part of our patient care team, you will engage professional with patients, serving as their first point of contact to ensure a positive experience while meeting their imaging needs. Responsibilities: · Performs all necessary checks of diagnosis, prescription, Epic order and patient identification as demonstrated by documentation. · Greets patients--confirming their identifications performing the correct procedures as directed and completely explaining the procedure to patient and family as directed. · Obtains patient history, screens patients for any and all surgeries and implanted items, explains procedures, gains consent for contrast and verifies GFR as needed, and addresses patient concerns as demonstrated by documentation and feedback. · Place angiocatheters, inject IV MRI contrast agents as directed by the Radiologist. · Operates the MRI scanner and all RF coils, MRI workstations, patient monitoring equipment and MR injectors to produce high quality images. · Archive and Verify MRI images to hard-copy format as needed. · Performs quality assurance testing consistent with section protocols. · Monitors the patient's status, tolerance and wellbeing throughout the study. · Aids radiologists, doctors and other UPHS team members in completing procedures according to applicable protocol. · Compliance with OSHA, TJC, DOH and other mandated safety procedures or regulations. · Maintains necessary inventory supplies for assigned workstation, rotating stock in an orderly fashion and eliminating outdated items. · Responds to emergency situations according to department policies. · Establishes and maintains good working relationships and partnerships within the facility and with outside customers of our services. · Communicate equipment problems and image quality issues. Education and Requirements: · H.S. Neurology Responsible for performing Carotid Ultrasound, Transcranial Doppler studies, and emboli detection with a high degree of technical and professional competence.
