**POSITION SUMMARY:**
Administers respiratory care services in accordance with department policies and procedures, providing input to the clinical evaluation and technical aspects of administered care. Patient care includes care to patients in the following age groups: neonatal (birth to 30 days), pediatric (30 days through 12 years), adolescent (13 through 18 years), adult (19 through 64 years), and geriatric (65 years and above).
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:** Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
+ Administers physician-prescribed treatment/testing to patients in all clinical areas according to physician order and/or department policy and procedure. Administered services include, but are not limited to, therapeutic gases, aerosol and humidity therapy, positive pressure breathing treatment (IPPB/CPAP), deep breathing exercises, airway care, including tracheobronchial aspiration and other procedures, and postural drainage and percussion/vibration to aid in secretion removal.
+ Performs physician-ordered arterial blood sample collection and performs subsequent analysis on an arterial blood gas analyzer for oxygen, carbon dioxide, pH, and oxygen saturation levels.
+ Establishes, monitors, and adjusts ventilator management of the critically ill patient requiring mechanical ventilation, under the direction of a physician and/or established physician protocol.
+ Provide complete and accurate documentation according to department policies for performed services.
**SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:** The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:
+ Confers with physicians, Manager, Clinical Services, and shift supervisor in regard to patient respiratory care plans, providing information pertaining to effectiveness of therapy and recommendation for changes in therapy.
+ Can receive, perform and document oral orders from physicians pertaining to respiratory care.
+ Provides technical assistance and guidance to respiratory technicians and respiratory care assistants.
+ Confers directly with patients in their provision of therapy and patient assessment providing the patient with explanations and information as required.
+ Provides the administration of topic anesthesia to patients have bronchoscopies performed. Assists physician with study as required.
+ Performs other related duties as required, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, acting as charge therapist when required, supervising and providing clinical instruction to respiratory therapy students, and assisting in the orientation of new employees.
+ Participates in the on-call responsibilities for this position as required.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
**MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ CPR certification.
+ Certification as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (or hold a temporary permit) by the PA State Board of Medicine.
+ Graduate AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Program. Individual must be registered or registry eligible.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ One (1) year of neonatal intensive care experience.
+ One (1) year of arterial gas punctures.
+ One (1) year of ventilator management.
+ Registry through NBRC - one (1) year.

Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration, blood gas collection and analysis, and aerosol equipment. Observes equipment function and adjusts to obtain optimum results to therapy. Inspects and tests respiratory therapy equipment to ensure appropriate safety and functionality. Reports improper working equipment
Monitors patient's physiological status and responses to therapy such as vital signs, breath sounds, respiratory rate and pattern, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes.
Performs bronchopulmonary hygiene and assists patient in performing breathing exercises.
Performs basic life support measures, and responds to emergent patient situations.
Documents patient care in patient's EMR. Records accurate patient charges
Demonstrates respiratory care procedures to orientees. Serves as Clinical Instructor for Respiratory students

What you will do
Reviews EMR for physician orders and patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment such as type and duration of therapy, medication and dosages. Accurately documents all patient care and completes patient charges in patient's electronic medical record.
Determines most suitable method of administering inhalants, precautions to be observed, and modifications which may be needed that will be compatible with Physician's orders. Consults with Physician in event of adverse reactions.
Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, non-invasive ventilation, therapeutic gas administration, blood gas collection and analysis and aerosol equipment. Observes equipment function and adjusts equipment to obtain optimum results to therapy. Inspects and tests Cardiopulmonary and respiratory therapy equipment to ensure appropriate safety and functionality. Reports improper working equipment.
Monitors patient's physiological status and responses to therapy, tests and procedures such as vital signs, breath sounds, respiratory rate and pattern, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes.
Administers bronchopulmonary hygiene procedures and assists patient in performing breathing exercises.
Performs Cardiopulmonary testing procedures as ordered by physician, including preparation of equipment, assessment and monitoring of patient during procedure, coaching patient during procedure and maintaining infection control processes for patient and equipment.
Performs tests, procedures and treatments to inpatients and outpatients on a scheduled basis as well as emergent patient situations.
Performs basic life support measures and responds to emergent patient situations.
Maintains all cardiopulmonary and respiratory equipment by performing daily maintenance, calibration, pre-use check out procedures and troubleshooting to ensure and maintain a state of readiness.
Provides patient and family education on Cardiopulmonary disorders, tests, procedures, therapies and treatments.
Assists Cardiac and Pulmonary rehab patients in therapeutic exercises and activities, provides patient education during rehab sessions, assesses and monitors patients and completes documentation and patient charges.

What you will do

Requirements:
* Graduate of an AMA-approved one (1) year Program in Respiratory Therapy.
* Licensed by the State of New Jersey Board of Respiratory Care as a Respiratory Care Practitioner and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

Salary Range: 40.00 - 57.58 USD

**POSITION SUMMARY:**
Administers respiratory care services in accordance with department policies and procedures, providing input to the clinical evaluation and technical aspects of administered care. Patient care includes care to patients in the following age groups: neonatal (birth to 30 days), pediatric (30 days through 12 years), adolescent (13 through 18 years), adult (19 through 64 years), and geriatric (65 years and above).
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:** Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
+ Administers physician-prescribed treatment/testing to patients in all clinical areas according to physician order and/or department policy and procedure.
+ Patient assessment.
+ Confers directly with patients, family, physicians and other disciplines concerning patient needs, ability and understanding.
+ Performs physician-ordered arterial blood sample collection and performs subsequent analysis on an arterial blood gas analyzer for oxygen, carbon dioxide, pH, and oxygen saturation levels.
+ Provide complete and accurate documentation according to department policies for performed service in the electronic medical record.
+ Processes all pulmonary procedure charges in computerized Charge Capture system
**Inpatient Respiratory Therapist Essential Functions also include:**
+ Administered services include, but are not limited to, therapeutic gases, aerosol and humidity therapy, positive pressure breathing treatment (IPPB/CPAP), deep breathing exercises, airway care, including tracheobronchial aspiration and other procedures, and postural drainage and percussion/vibration to aid in secretion removal.
+ Establishes, monitors, and adjusts ventilator management of the critically ill patient requiring mechanical ventilation, under the direction of a physician and/or established physician protocol.
+ Provides the administration of topic anesthesia to patients have bronchoscopies performed. Assists physician with study as required.
+ Provides navigation support and rehabilitation services to patients in accordance with physician order and/or department policies and procedures. These services include, but are not limited to:
+ patient education and training
+ family education and training
+ smoking counseling
+ exercise assessment
+ training and program development
+ home care coordinating
+ Performs schedules preventative maintenance and Quality Assurance activities on equipment.
+ Performs patient registration, medical record management functions and patient scheduling.
+ Provides physician ordered pulmonary diagnostic studies, including oxygen assessment studies (exercise with oximetry studies), protocols and other testing services on patients.
+ Assists with the performance of specialized diagnostic studies **(PFT positions)**
**SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:** The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:
+ Confers with physicians, Manager, Clinical Services, and shift supervisor in regard to patient respiratory care plans, providing information pertaining to effectiveness of therapy and recommendation for changes in therapy.
+ Can receive, perform and document verbal orders from physicians pertaining to respiratory care.
+ Provides technical assistance and guidance to respiratory therapists, students, RNs, providers and respiratory equipment aides.
+ Confers directly with patients in their provision of therapy and patient assessment, providing the patient with explanations and information as required.
+ Performs other related duties as required, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, acting as charge therapist when required, supervising and providing clinical instruction to respiratory therapy students, and assisting in the orientation of new employees.
+ Assists in the processing of respiratory related equipment.
+ Participates in the on-call **and** scheduled weekend and holiday responsibilities for this position as required.
+ Actively involved in quality and process improvement activities.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
**MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ CPR certification.
+ Certification as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (or hold a temporary permit) by the PA State Board of Medicine.
+ Certified Respiratory Therapist qualify
