This initiative is sponsored and funded by the NNSA Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program (MSIPP) for Sustainable STEM Workforce. Students will get the opportunity to develop skills and gain experience at Sandia National Laboratories in roles that may include chemical synthesis, materials characterization and test, systems engineering, nuclear engineering and forensics, tech maturation, commercialization, IP, business planning, and more. As an intern at Sandia, you will be guided by a technical mentor and work closely with a team of researchers and Sandians on issues of national significance. On any given day, you may be called on to: Collaborate with a technical mentor to plan, design, set-up, and perform experiments/projects Record experimental procedures and collect data in notebooks Interpret data using spreadsheets, graphs and statistical analysis Document and present results to mentor and peers. Responsible for various activities associated with maintaining a laboratory and follow safety procedures Conduct surveys and market analysis Through your internship, you will learn engineering and scientific skills and join a high-performing team. Students will be expected to demonstrate increasing levels of independence and responsibility and must show a commitment to operate in and contribute to a safe operating environment. Students will be expected to work full time onsite for the duration of their internship. Salary Range At Sandia, we value the important work done by our interns and its contribution to National Security. Because of this, our interns earn competitive pay rates. Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements: Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited related undergraduate program Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship Note: If you have not earned a HS diploma or equivalent, please apply to a high school intern position. Field time would include running the fishing clinics, conducting fly-tying workshops, leading birding programs, roving the park and talking with anglers, and supporting fish and bird inventory work by the resource management team.     Job Description Organize and implement all aspects and technical portions of core and supplemental underage drinking and drunk driving prevention programs for targeted populations at the State and Local level. Responsible for all program administration including regular liaison and reporting, achievement of established performance objectives, development of programs to achieve objectives and adherence to all program and/or grant policies and guidelines. This is a hybrid position. The salary for this position is $45,000 RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure that goals and objectives as designated by MADD management and/or the grantor are achieved by developing and designing events targeted to accomplish specific objectives and providing marketing and outreach of the program to community agencies. Ensure that grant proposals include MADD's program directives. Manage the implementation and logistics of adult drunk driving prevention and underage drinking prevention programs through the design and facilitation of training programs at the State and Local level. Organize and host orientation meetings, evaluation meetings, facilitator training and facilitation of parent workshops and student presentations. Source and recruit volunteers, as needed, for applicable programs. Provide training, guidance, support and motivation to volunteers and staff by conducting training meetings, telephone coaching and on-site assistance. Maintain tracking and data collection of programs and/or grant results, financial reports, and the progress for evaluation and improvement. Identify areas that are not fully utilizing the resources available and ensure assistance is provided in a timely manner. Participate in the implementation of National program evaluation measures. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in related field such as Human Services or equivalent experience. One to two years' experience in work with the implementation of community awareness, education, partnership and youth programs specifically related to community health. Previous experience working with programs or grant administration helpful. Spanish a huge plus. Travel and flexible hours are required. Strong organizational skills, be detail oriented with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and execute in a high-volume environment. Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop and convey thoughts clearly, logically, and concisely both orally and in writing, using appropriate grammar and command of the English language. Ability to work both independently and with others to resolve issues and maintain composure and professionalism in an environment of changing and/or multiple priorities. Must be able to work on a timetable, meet deadlines, follow instructions, and accept direction on given assignments. Strong work ethic with the ability to maintain a high activity level.
