Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; some College or Degree preferred
Minimum three (3) years administrative experience required, preferably in training, finance, adult education or tuition assistance environment
Bilingual preferred, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Mandarin/Cantonese
Must have great working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail; ability to facilitate multiple activities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The intern will be responsible for supporting the implementation and monitoring of diverse program activities as well as supporting specific department and unit initiatives or projects. Communications: Provides C-SPAN programming and special projects information to national and local news outlets to generate press coverage.
2. Content: C-SPAN's programming department includes the following units, which choose, research, shoot and produce the programming for the networks:
American History TV: Every weekend offers American History TV, 24 hours of people and events that help document the American story. Featured are eyewitness accounts of the events that have shaped our nation, tours of museums and history sites and archival speeches from former presidents and other national leaders. We also take you to the classrooms of leading professors and to lectures and symposiums featuring prominent historians.
Book TV: Every weekend features Book TV, a 24-hour block of nonfiction book programming. Book TV brings you a rich variety of topics: history, biography, politics, current events, the media and more. There are author interviews, readings, panels and live coverage from the nation's largest book fairs.
Washington Journal: Daily morning call-in program featuring leading journalists, public policy makers and authors discussing the top public policy issues of the day, from key legislation on Capitol Hill to important developments around the world.
Field Production: Handles audio, lighting and camera operation for events that take place in Washington or on the road and executes set-up and breakdown of equipment.
Program Producers: Develop specific live and taped public affairs programs that air on C-SPAN, C-SPAN2 and C-SPAN3. These programs include Q&A, international programming, politics and special projects.
3. Content/TV Networks: This department is responsible for getting C-SPAN's product on the air. The editorial, technical, and information systems staff work closely together to ensure quality, balanced programming.
Editorial: Develops the daily schedule, tracks House and Senate floor debate, and coordinates elements for the final programming that airs on C-SPAN. Script writing, voice-overs, and writing and choosing Capital News headlines are just some of the responsibilities of this unit.
Technical: Works around the clock and is responsible for all the technical aspects of getting C-SPAN and C-SPAN2 on air 24 hours-a-day, including program direction, master control, camera operation, lighting and sound, editing, and on-air promotions.
4. Information Systems: Responsible for C-SPAN's information technology infrastructure, including local and wide area networks, servers and desktops and all commercial and custom applications.
5. Digital Technology: Develops and implements our strategies in the areas of online services, audio products and other developing technologies.
6. C-SPAN Radio: Broadcasts a mix of daily programs similar in style to those found on the
C-SPAN television networks, including congressional hearings, speeches, debates and forum discussions.
7. Engineering Responsible for the overall technical quality of C-SPAN's products; works with other departments to purchase and repair technical equipment; tracks new technologies and recommends ways C-SPAN can use these technologies to improve our product.

The APS schedules and coordinates arbitration hearings and mediation sessions, assigns arbitrators and mediators to fee disputes filed with the ACAB, assists in assigning claims filed with the Fund to trustees and is responsible for intake and assisting with case management for the ACAB and the Fund. This position reports to the Manager, A/CRP (“M,A/CRP”).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintains and ensures the confidentiality of the ACAB and the Fund.
2. Performs case intake for the ACAB and the Fund, including assisting parties with filing, and preparing parties' filings for the review of the Manager, A/CRP. Drafts case summaries for claims filed with the Fund.
3. Answers and responds to telephone inquiries, mails ACAB and the Fund program material, and responds to inquiries for information about the ACAB and the Fund.
4. Assigns cases to arbitrators and mediators and claims to trustees; monitors parties' submission deadlines; and coordinates party/arbitrator/mediator availability for hearings and mediations under the supervision of the Manager, A/CRP.

6. Assists parties, arbitrators and mediators upon their arrival for arbitration hearings and mediations.
7. Draft correspondence, memoranda, reports, minutes of meetings, and other documents.
8. Maintains ACAB and the Fund case files, including parties' and claimants' submissions, and exhibits, program notebooks and other records. Responsible for timely mailing and arranging for courier delivery of parties' submissions to parties involved in ACAB and the Fund cases, arbitrators, mediators and trustees.
9. Inputs and maintains case dockets for the ACAB and the Fund.
10. Inputs and maintains records of volunteer arbitrators, mediators, and trustees, including contact information, applications, resumes, (re)appointments and training seminars attended.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The Luck Stone summer internship is an 10-week program designed for college students. The program is focused on quarry operations and includes hands-on training in pit and plant activities, including pit design, haul truck and water truck operation, blasting, primary, secondary, and tertiary plant operation and maintenance, quality control, and sales and dispatch. The program is structured to provide training and experience in each area, with a focus on developing competencies in areas such as equipment operation, safety, planning and prioritization, and maintenance. Throughout the program, interns will participate in Luck Stone's safety culture and team-building activities, and will have opportunities to network with industry professionals. At the end of the program, interns will present a summary of their experiences and learning outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Complete assigned tasks and projects with a high level of quality and attention to detail

Candidate Criteria: We are primarily seeking candidates that are currently pursuing a BS/MS or Ph.D. degree in related fields.
Internship Timetable: Internships are full-time for 10-12 weeks between June 1 and August 15 each year. How Long Will This Internship Last?

What Kind of Work Will I Do?
* Research Interns - The Schroeder Institute will contribute to the department's research projects. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, possess excellent communication skills, and can work independently as well as collaboratively with other departments and in a fast-paced environment. * The Information Technology Intern's primary responsibility will be to respond to user questions and issues about PC's and provide Help Desk support.
