Minimum Qualifications

This opportunity is in the Actuarial Services Department:
As an Actuarial Intern, you will work closely with Reserving and Pricing Actuaries in support of our growing business. You will research, analyze, build and share various actuarial concepts and models with department leaders and teams within Safety National. You will be assigned a mentor and manager to help support your development but will ultimately be responsible for your own development and achievements.
Your coursework in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Business and Risk Management will be put to good use as you learn to apply them to real world business questions and problems. Here you will learn to work effectively with others, use your resources and work across an entire enterprise. You may be assigned models for review, care and feeding or given opportunities to partner on development of new models.

This internship is available to candidates who can work full-time on-site in Saint Louis MO from May 18th through July 31st of 2026.
Required Qualifications:
Graduate or currently enrolled student in an Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics or similar program
30 or more credit hours complete with an expected graduation date no earlier than December of 2027
Foundational understanding of actuarial models, insurance industry principles, and risk management
Proficiency in advanced mathematics including, calculus and discrete distributions
Capable of clearly articulating complex topics to a wide variety of audiences
Ability to work on-site at our headquarters located at 1832 Schuetz Rd. Saint Louis, MO 63146
Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior work or internship experience
Familiarity with SQL programming including scripting and queries
Passed or scheduled actuarial exams such as, Exam P - Probability or Exam FM - Financial Mathematics
Exposure to additional programming languages, such as VBA, Python, SAS or R
