What You'll Do: As a Logistics Intern you will get a variety of hands-on experience in dispatching trucks, customer service, and learning in depth knowledge about the industry. You will also gain a variety of professional skills by working with different departments within the company. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Dispatch orders in a timely and efficient manner. * Communicate with drivers and direct them to delivery locations. * Work directly with surrounding areas to better service customers by utilizing multiple plants and look to share trucks. * Ability to multitask and stay focused while dealing with various contractors, salespeople, dispatchers, and other personnel. * Talk with customers by phone and enter data into computer system. * Solicit future orders from customers and enter order into computer system. * Negotiate with customers' acceptable delivery times to prevent lost orders. * Document customer complaints and forward to Dispatch Manager and/or Sales Representative. * Other duties as assigned by the manager. Qualifications and Requirements: * Excellent communication skills, verbal and written to build strong relationships while promoting the organization. * Able to prioritize projects, high attention to detail, excellent customer service skills and ability to follow up in a timely manner. * Excellent computer skills including intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. * Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program with a minimum of 3 years completed, or graduated with a bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, business administration, or a related area.
