JOB SUMMARY: The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 250 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe. CSIS seeks an intern to support the Renewing American Innovation project. Renewing American Innovation (RAI) explores issues at the cutting edge of science, innovation, and technology policy in the United States. The intern will collaborate with and enable a fast-paced team producing concrete analysis on methods for renewing the U.S. innovation ecosystem, a critical national security asset. The program is looking to hire an intern for an early to mid- January 2026 start date. The intern is expected to work five days a week, Monday through Friday, for a total of 35 hours/week. KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: * Must be in final year of undergraduate degree program, recent graduate (within past year), or current graduate student. * Must have obtained or must be pursuing a BA or MA in International Affairs, Political Science, Public Policy, or intellectual property law, or STEM field. * Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) from an accredited U.S. institution or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution. * Familiarity with U.S. foreign policy and national security establishment. * Demonstrated interest in science and technology policy preferred. * Strong written and oral communication skills. * Strong writing skills tailored for a policy audience. * Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and concisely. * Demonstrated familiarity and experience with social media platforms. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that our industrial facility remains clean, sanitized, and free of contaminants to meet health and safety standards. This includes performing cleaning duties in manufacturing, production, and processing areas, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of equipment, floors, restrooms, and other workspaces. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, an understanding of sanitation procedures, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic working environment.
Responsibilities:
Clean and sanitize machines, production lines, and other equipment following established procedures to maintain a hygienic workspace.
Properly dispose of waste materials, chemicals, and hazardous substances in compliance with environmental, safety and SQF regulations.
Possess knowledge and understanding of the Food Safety Policy, GMP's, HACCP Principle and Food Safety Standard and have responsibility to report problems with the food safety management system to identified person(s).
Clean and maintain restrooms, locker rooms, and other employee areas.
Follow all safety protocols and ensure that cleaning agents and chemicals are stored and used according to safety standards.
Sweep, mop, and scrub floors, walls, and surfaces to ensure cleanliness and prevent contamination.
Assist with pest control measures to ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the facility.
Maintain accurate cleaning logs and reports for inspection purposes.
Ensure that cleaning tools and equipment are properly maintained and report any malfunctions or need for repairs.
Participate in periodic deep cleaning or scheduled sanitation events as needed.
Work in an industrial environment with moderate to heavy machinery and equipment that includes exposure to noise, dust, varying temperatures, allergens and machinery.
Exposure to cleaning chemicals and potentially hazardous materials (PPE will be provided).
Shift work may be required, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends.
Execute other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, sanitizers, and proper handling methods.
Familiarity with safety and sanitation procedures in an industrial setting.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions.
Physical stamina and ability to lift and move equipment or materials as required.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary.
Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods of time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist Senior Project Manager with project planning, scheduling, and coordination of tasks.
Review customer specifications, quotes, and orders for completeness and accuracy under supervision.
Support the development of project timelines, milestone tracking, and resource planning.
Participate in internal and external meetings to observe and assist in project communication and follow-up.
Help prepare project documentation such as meeting minutes, progress updates, and change order summaries.
Assist with data collection and cost tracking related to project budgets and performance metrics.
Participate in design and production meetings to gain an understanding of project flow and engineering collaboration.
Support communication between departments (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, etc.) to ensure timely project execution.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Professional office environment in a manufacturing setting. Personal workstation may be located on 2nd floor. The employee works in the office but does have frequent interaction with personnel on the shop floor. The employee may also be required to travel occasionally to work in customers' plants reviewing new applications or on the installation, start-up and commissioning of company products. In plants, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is mixed. All required PPE, including steel toe shoes, must be worn and a clean work environment must be maintained.
