    FUNCTION Responsible, under general supervision, for the operation of two or more multiple spindle automatic screw machines that turn, form, and thread externally and internally cylindrical objects from metal bar stock. Job is performed in a machine shop environment, requires lifting up to 50lbs, and requires own hand tools (screw drivers, pliers, micrometers, etc.). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Learn to remove, reset, replace, and sharpen machine tools with surface and/or pedestal grinders to maintain of production in accordance with specifications. Use standard dimensional inspection gages (depth, height, ring, thread, snap, micrometers, over screen charts, calipers, etc.) to check the conformance of machined components to item specifications. Learn to refer to in-process drawings of machined components and defect list for definition of relevant dimensional tolerances and characteristics. Use a basket system to insure effective sampling of the of machined components and start machines to maintain of items being produced and maintain necessary production efficiency. Load automatic screw machines with bar stock or previously machined components. Maintain fluid levels needed to insure proper machine tool, or machine lubrication as well as safe and efficient screw machine operation. Remove metal shavings and chips from automatic screw machines as deemed necessary to maintain safe and efficient operation. Use lift trucks and overhead cranes to transport materials as needed. Learn to perform all routine maintenance on automatic screw machines. Learn to set up from layouts, automatic screw machines to produce components to blueprint and dimensional tolerances from bar stock or previously machined components. Performs any related duties as required or assigned. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION Machine Trade School training and five (5) years' experience operating Automatic Screw machines or four (4) years' experience as an Automatic Screw Machine Operator.
