Matt brings a broad range of experience to his role as Chief Commercial Officer. Prior to joining Proterra, Horton served as CEO of Propel Fuels, Inc., a leading clean transportation company. Matt led Propel through a period of high growth, earning Propel a spot on the Inc. 500 as one of America’s fastest growing companies. While there, he was responsible for strategy and planning, government relations, operational execution, financial management, investor relations, communications, partnerships and corporate development. Horton is an experienced company builder with a passion for growing sustainable businesses. Over the course of his career, he has been an operating executive, venture capitalist and investment banker, working with dozens of startup and emerging-growth companies in Silicon Valley since the late 1990s. Horton is a regular speaker at clean energy industry conferences and was awarded the prestigious Industry Leadership Award at the World Biofuels Forum in Rotterdam for his work in advancing the biofuels industry.

Ron Hess is a Chief Technology Officer at Propel. He has deep experience as a technical and innovation thought leader, including 10+ years of experience as a Salesforce architect, evangelist and program manager. Prior to Propel, Ron was the principal architect at Kenandy, building the next generation of ERP on the Salesforce platform.

Carmine “CJ” Napolitano is the CEO of Electric Cloud, the leader in DevOps release automation. Mr. Napolitano has over 25 years of experience in general, financial, and technology management in public and private companies. He has completed over $500MM in financial transactions including an IPO, 3 exits, and over a dozen financings. He has been part of industry leading teams at Paradata, Blekko, Computer Access Technologies, LeCroy, Centric Software, and Wavefront Technologies. These companies all pioneered new markets and in some cases were ahead of their time. Mr. Napolitano earned his MBA from New York University, and BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Marketing, operations, and business development executive for venture-backed B2B SaaS providers. Managed the entire product life cycle for SaaS solutions targeting enterprise and small business customers, scaled sales and account management teams, and led cross functional teams to deliver company-wide goals. Track record of effectively managing P&Ls, scaling revenue, developing and launching partnerships, and turnarounds.
