Job Description
LSA is seeking a full-time Proposal Coordinator to lead proposal efforts and support firm-wide marketing activities. The successful candidate will be required to work collaboratively to prepare winning proposals, statements of qualifications, and lead interview presentations. They will manage the full proposal development cycle: facilitate Go/No-go decisions, lead proposal kick off meetings, develop production schedules, assist technical project managers in developing win themes, draft/edit text, final submittal production and delivery; in close coordination with technical professionals throughout LSA's nine offices. In addition to proposal management, this position includes assistance with LSA's emarketing initiatives on various social media platforms and other marketing related activities. The successful candidate can be based out of Northern, Southern or Central California. This position may qualify for remote or hybrid work environments.
Requirements/Preferred Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, English Literature, Communications, Business Administration, Political Science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
2-5+ years of experience with RFP, RFQ, and RFI responses for A/E/C industry

Responsibilities
YOUR ROLE IN CREATING THE UNIVERSITY'S PRESENT AND FUTURE
The Grant Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the advancement of the research mission of Research Foundation and San Diego State University. Using specialized experience in research administration, you will support faculty research activities to ensure funding agency and university requirements are met, directly impacting SDSU's reputation as a leading research institution.
THE WORK YOU WILL DO AND MANAGE
As a Grant Specialist, you will join a team of professionals who are aligned with the Research Foundation's mission to support and advance research. You will play a key role in the administration, compliance and fiscal management of sponsored programs, campus and community programs, gift funds and other research support funds. Grant Specialists serve as a primary point of contact for faculty and work directly with them throughout the life of an award providing guidance on administrative processes such as hiring personnel, purchasing supplies, projecting costs, interpreting complex policies and regulations, and securing sponsor agency approvals for grant related actions. The work you do to support the management of grants and contracts provides faculty with time needed to focus on the research activities that will continue to advance the institution's research mission.

Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex policy and financial information to PIs, university administrators, RF staff, and agency representatives.

This staff member will be responsible for ensuring that all grant-related submissions and reporting requirements are met in a timely fashion, and that the submissions have received all necessary internal approvals.
The ideal candidate will have experience working at a Federally Qualified Health Center, Indian Health Service clinic, or another health/social services nonprofit. Experience with federal reporting systems such as SPARS, HRSA eHB, NIH/eRA Commons, GrantSolutions, NSF FastLane, etc. are highly desirable. An undergraduate education including life science and/or English/journalism training typically provides the foundation for succeeding as a Grant Writer Post Award Specialist.
Outside of post-award activities, and as time is available, the GWPAS may assist in activities associated with the writing of new grants and the development of new programs. Activities may include: FOA prospecting, all aspects of proposal writing, and assistance in grant budget development. Other activities may be assigned according to departmental/clinic need.
