After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process, which includes the following.
Trade Supervisory Exam* (Weight: 40%)
Candidates must achieve a passing score on the Trade Supervisory Exam (TSE) in order to continue in the recruitment process.
DPH FoodServiceSupervisor Core Assessment* (Weight: 60%)
Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and pass the TSE will be invited to take the DPH FoodServiceSupervisor Core Assessment, a written, multiple-choice test designed to measure knowledge, skills and/or abilities in job-related areas which may include, but not be limited to: Knowledge of foodservice operations, of hygiene and sanitation, of pertinent laws and codes; Supervisory ability; Human relations ability; Computer and written record keeping ability; and Oral communication ability.

*Scores attained on the Trade Supervisory Exam and DPH FoodServiceSupervisor Core Assessment shall be valid and 'banked' for three years, from the test date. Candidates are not required to retest during this period. Applicants who qualify for another job using one or both exams within one year of the respective test dates will have their score applied to that recruitment automatically. After one year, a candidate can either (a) apply their test score to the other recruitment or (b) retest. Retesting is allowed after one year from the test date only if a candidate applies and is qualified for another announcement for which the test is used. The retest score becomes the official score for candidates who choose to retest due to its recency.
The use of “banked” scores may change if an assessment is revised significantly in the future. Candidates with “banked” scores would be required to take the revised exam sooner than the three-year period if they apply to a job opportunity using a revised version of the same exam.
Note: If you apply to and qualify for both the 2618 FoodServiceSupervisor and 2619 Senior FoodServiceSupervisor recruitments, you will only take the DPH FoodServiceSupervisor Core Assessment once.

Scores.

Applicant information, including names of applicants on the eligible list, shall not be made public unless required by law. However, an eligible list shall be made available for public inspection, upon request, once the eligible list is exhausted or expired and referrals resolved. The eligible list/score report resulting from this civil service examination process is subject to change after adoption (e.g., as a result of appeals), as directed by the Human Resources Director or the Civil Service Commission.
The duration of the eligible list resulting from this examination process will be of 12 months and may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.
