Job Summary:
The MRI Tech is responsible for daily modality operations. They perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) according to established protocols and works closely under the direction of the Radiologist and other physicians.
Essential Functions:
* Knowledge in workflows, procedures, operation, and processes of the MRI imaging modalities.
* Applies principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
* Confirms the quality and accuracy of all pertinent patient and procedural data.
* Selects proper MRI pulse sequences and scan parameters according to established protocols.
* Contributes to the training and education of new staff and assists in oversight of MRI students.
* Provides direct patient care and instructions before, during, and after procedure.
* Performs IV injections and administers magnetic contrast agents specific to procedure.
* Troubleshoots equipment during malfunction in absence of service engineer and reports malfunction to radiology maintenance/supervisor.
Education:
* Associate's from an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) accredited institute (preferred)
Licensure/Certification:
* Certification and Registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Diagnostic Radiology with Advanced MRI Registry (MR) (required, or must within one year of hire)

The MRI Tech is responsible for daily modality operations. Essential Job Functions

• Selects and operates the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.
• Applies principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
• Properly positions the patient on the MRI scanning cradle to obtain desired anatomic position; inputs patient information and selects scan parameters for specific exam; scans patients according to established protocol and physician request; performs IV injections and has knowledge of use and care of existing IV's; administers magnetic contrast agents specific to procedure; manipulates images using a wide variety of available computer functions to optimally visualize desired anatomy; performs quality assurance tests as specified by department protocol; demonstrates and maintains clinical competency as required for the department
• Demonstrates knowledge of direct patient care by evaluating the patient, verifying patient ID, and related information to assure appropriate procedure is performed; explains procedure to patient; prepares patient for procedure by obtaining and recording patient history and consent form (if applicable); properly screens all patients for metal safety; ensures patient comfort, privacy, and safety during procedure; monitors condition of patient and medical equipment that may be disturbed due to the nature of exam and report changes to patient care services; troubleshoots equipment during malfunction in absence of service engineer and reports malfunction to radiology maintenance/supervisor
• Participates in the education/instruction of students and the orientation of new staff.
• Participates in performance improvement projects; assists department in achieving successful results in all federal, state and local agency audits
• Selects appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
• Maintains controlled access to the magnet room and Zone 2, 3 and 4.
QC duties/maintenance of QC
• Works closely with other modalities and departments.

JOB SUMMARY (2-4 sentences)
Under the direction and supervision of a radiologist/physician, performs all procedures within the MRI section of the Radiology Department. Maintains appropriate records and documentation according to Local, State, and Federal guidelines as appropriate and/or necessary. Observes all safety guidelines and performs any other duties which assist in the provision of quality patient care according to the mission and values of the hospital.

20%Performs magnetic resonance imaging examinations, intravenous contrast injections in accordance with hospital guidelines and ensures safety to the patient, public, and self. Prepares equipment and scanning area for patient procedures. Transport or escort patients to and from MRI area. Keeps areas stocked at all times and room clean. Technologist cleans equipment per departmental policy after each patient use.
20%Performs all clerical duties needed to assist in the patient care process and demonstrates proper documentation of all patient care
20%Cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department. Maintains ethical relationships. May be requested to assist in the development of techniques for procedures. Assist others in the department, requests assistance when necessary and demonstrates a team approach to patient care. Assist in developing the skills of students, trainees, or residents.
10%Operates and maintains equipment used and records all maintenance in log books, performs quality control testing as required by department quality assurance plan/coordinator
10%Adheres to work schedule, and schedules PTO time off per departmental policy. Will be available for rotating emergency call, while also possibly being asked to cover at other facilities within the Mercy Health Youngstown market.

The MRI Tech is responsible for daily modality operations. They perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) according to established protocols and works closely under the direction of the Radiologist and other physicians. They are also expected to contribute to the training and onboarding of new employees and assist in supervision of MRI students.
Essential Job Functions
Completes assigned tasks in a time frame appropriate for the situation; demonstrates flexibility to fluctuation in workload.
Selects and operates the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.
Applies principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
Properly positions the patient on the MRI scanning cradle to obtain desired anatomic position; inputs patient information and selects scan parameters for specific exam; scans patients according to established protocol and physician request; performs IV injections and has knowledge of use and care of existing IV's; administers magnetic contrast agents specific to procedure; manipulates images using a wide variety of available computer functions to optimally visualize desired anatomy; performs quality assurance tests as specified by department protocol; demonstrates and maintains clinical competency as required for the department
Demonstrates knowledge of direct patient care by evaluating the patient, verifying patient ID, and related information to assure appropriate procedure is performed; explains procedure to patient; prepares patient for procedure by obtaining and recording patient history and consent form (if applicable); properly screens all patients for metal safety; ensures patient comfort, privacy, and safety during procedure; monitors condition of patient and medical equipment that may be disturbed due to the nature of exam and report changes to patient care services; troubleshoots equipment during malfunction in absence of service engineer and reports malfunction to radiology maintenance/supervisor
Participates in the education/instruction of students and the orientation of new staff.
Participates in performance improvement projects; assists department in achieving successful results in all federal, state and local agency audits
Selects appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
Maintains controlled access to the magnet room and Zone 2, 3 and 4.

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The primary responsibility of a multi-modality technologist performs any 2 combination of procedures with related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by, and at the request of, a licensed independent practitioner.
Essential Job Functions
Performs duties for any 2 imaging modalities. (ex: XR, CT, MRI) (ex: ARRT, RDMS)
Meets any continuing education or clinical requirements as required by regulatory standards
Operates equipment, accessories and is knowledgeable in workflows, procedures and processes of the 2 imaging modalities.
Selecting appropriate imaging/sequences with consideration given to approved protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
Obtains patient's clinical history and appropriate lab work ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner. Use of POC device for Lab work.
Applies Safety principles with a focus on the 2 imaging modalities to minimize risk to patient, self and others that may affect the patient's safety, damage the equipment or affect the image quality.
Provides radiation protection and other protection specific to the 2 modalities for the patient and others.
Verifies patient identification using two patient identifiers and the procedure requested or prescribed by validating the order.
When required by either of the 2 modalities, performs venipuncture including starting, maintaining and/or removing intravenous access.
When required by either of the 2 modalities, identifies, prepares and/or administers medications/contrast as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
When required by either of the 2 modalities, uses a power injector for the administration of medication with approved vascular access device. Follows manufacturer guidelines regarding infusion rates and pressure.

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The CT Technologist applies the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of CT scanning equipment in a way that provides direct patient care in a compassionate and timely manner. The CT Technologist assists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by producing diagnostic CT scans.
Essential Job Functions
• Assures the quality of all images and confirms that all pertinent patient/procedural data is correct.
• Performs computed tomography procedures.
• Performs timeout as required per policy.
• Properly positions patients on CT scanning cradles and properly immobilizes patients with appropriate devices to obtain desired position.
• Makes radiation exposures by energizing scanner per physician request and patient history.
• Performs intravenous injections and demonstrates a knowledge of use and care of existing IVs, administers oral, rectal, and IV radiographic contracts agents specific to procedures.
• Assists the radiologist with biopsies, drainage procedures, etc. utilizing sterile techniques, exhibiting safe and effective use of all contrast and radiation materials.
• Maintains a working knowledge of all CT IT systems, including Radiant and PACS.
• Participates in on call rotation as required.
