The ultrasound technologist performs cardiac ultrasound procedures this includes Echo and Vascular and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by, and at the request of, a licensed independent practitioner. May be required to learn to scan vascular exams i.e., venous duplex scans. Will perform direct patient care in a compassionate and timely manner. Under the direction of Radiology leadership, the Ultrasound tech performs duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures in the use of ultrasound for the diagnosis of disease or pathology. This will be located at Enon office and will support Springfield and Urbana locations.
Essential Job Functions:
Demonstrates knowledge of direct patient care by evaluating the patient, verifying patient ID, and related information to assure appropriate procedure is performed
Explains procedure to patient; prepares patient for procedure by obtaining and recording patient history and consent form (if applicable)
Ensures patient comfort, privacy, and safety during procedure; monitors condition of patient and medical equipment that may be disturbed due to the nature of exam and report changes to patient care services
Documents sonographer's impressions and relays findings to physician
Obtains and records images necessary to demonstrate normal and pathological findings; documents all pertinent information, e.g., lab values, patient histories; demonstrates and maintains clinical competency particularly related to patients who are: newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric as deemed necessary by designated facility
Participates in performance improvement projects
Assists department in achieving successful results in all federal and state and local agency audits.
Participates in the education/instruction of students and the orientation of new staff. -high level disinfection probes per joint commission standards.
Must use various ultrasound modalities dependent on the type of anatomy being examined.
Must become proficient in recognizing cross-sectional anatomy and understanding of related technology.
Demonstrates favorable guest relations and continues to promote values of the hospital in daily work performance.
May also perform other related patient care duties
Licensing/Certification
Credentialed in Ultrasound technology by one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (preferred, or must obtain within 2 years)
BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required)
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Abdomen, Breast, Obstetrics/Gynecology (preferred)
Education
Associates, America Medical Association (AMA) allied health training program in Ultrasound (preferred)
Work Experience
1 year experience as an Ultrasound Tech (preferred)

Performs 12 and 18 lead ECG, rhythm strips with minimal artifact and high quality. Documents and processes for interpretation by cardiologist, following department policies and procedures. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described within.
Essential Job Functions
Verifies the patient's name armband to the order requisition, ensuring that the correct patient receives the test.
Applies electrodes to the chest and extremity areas, adhering to the standards established for proper lead placement, utilizing alternate sites for lead placement when appropriate and adhering to the standards of counting the intercostal spaces for each patient ensuring proper lead placement. Prepares the patient's chest area (shave, clean, abrade) when needed to obtain high quality tracings.
Performs, transmits, and processes EKGs.
Performs Holter Monitoring procedures. This entails application and disconnection of Holter monitors. Explains to the patient how to maintain the patient's diary (record keeping) of the symptoms and events experienced.
Performs Event Monitor procedures. This entails application, receiving post event transmissions. Instructs the patient how to perform event-recording transmissions.
Maintains equipment in clean and proper working condition and notifies the supervisor, Bio-Medical department or designated personnel of malfunctioning equipment. Notifies manager of needed supplies.
Participates in cross training and orienting new employees to the department.

The telemetry monitor technician has duties related to monitoring, reporting and recording cardiac rhythms and changes in cardiac rhythm accurately, per specific guidelines.
Observes and accurately interprets cardiac monitors and reports changes in baseline rhythm patterns.
Documents patient data per policy under direct supervision of RN/LPN or designated healthcare professional.
Provides support to RN by assisting with patient care, retrieving supplies from other departments, and delivering specimens or picking up blood supplies from the laboratory.
Provides clerical support and coordinates communication to support the function of the nursing unit.
Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills, including telephone, electronic, and in person. Relays clear, concise information, uses courtesy and tact in relating to patients/visitors, employees and providers and escalates issues when appropriate using established protocols and the chain of command.
Attends and participates in unit/department meetings per unit policy and participates in required programs.
Participates in quality improvement studies and projects as directed.
Requires sitting for prolonged periods of time.
