    Job Description Provides quality radiology care through a variety of functions. Performs various patient care activities under nursing supervision. Performs various clerical functions, as assigned, which support the clinical and Center goals. **3-4 days per week, 8 hour shift** **6:00am-7:00am start time** Key Areas of Responsibility: Provides technical skills involving all radiology duties for the Center. Takes and develops radiographs of various parts of the body, intra-operatively. Assists in patient and staff education and counseling regarding proper radiation safety. Performs monthly cleanings on C-Arms, Portable X-Ray Unit, Mini C-Arm, lead aprons and all radiology equipment monthly. Documents properly. Performs annual Quality Assurance inspection on all Radiology protective wear (holes, wear & tear, etc.). Performs assigned nursing support tasks in all areas (PreOp, OR, Pacu, Phase II) according to center policy and procedures. Assists with OR suite turnover as time allows. Performs Quality Assurance monitoring for the OR, which includes but is not limited to, recording temperature and humidity in each OR (OR rooms, intubation cart, substerile) Performs some housekeeping functions as assigned, such as cleaning supply/linen carts, cleaning & changing patient carts, collection & disposal of soiled linen/trash, general cleaning of OR desk & patient areas. Assists with ordering, procuring and tracking of supplies from general stores and purchasing, documenting and communicating with the Clinical Director, Materials Manager and Charge Nurse per policy. Also orders pathology supplies from South Bend Medical Foundation. Assesses safety and effectiveness of equipment in the work environment. Communicates deficits to Clinical Director and/or Charge Nurse. Follows policy regarding tagging and removal from service, any equipment which fails to function appropriately. Under direction of Clinical Director and/or Charge Nurse, runs assigned errands. Assists with input of inventory depletion information into SIS system daily. Demonstrates and utilizes good guest relations skills with members of the staff, physicians, patients and visitors. Participates in the orientation of new staff, volunteers, and approved program participants. Adheres to OSHA guidelines for Universal Precautions at all times, per policy and procedures. Follows AORN Recommended Guidelines and Center policy at all times. Utilizes appropriate body mechanics in daily activities, while transporting patients, assisting in ambulation and moving equipment or supplies. Demonstrates flexibility in meeting the needs of the unit and Center. Participates in Center Quality Improvement Program activities including identification of aspects of care, collection and analysis of data, implementation of an improvement plan and evaluation of the process. Attends Center staff and unit meetings and educational opportunities. Maintains all required certifications (CPR), ASRT and state license. Performs efficiently in emergency situations. Prioritizes job responsibilities to facilitate optimum quality of patient care. Performs activities with efficiency and speed. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. HIPAA Compliance: Radiologic Technologist will not have access to medical records, except as required from time to time to assist with quality improvement activities. Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: High School diploma or equivalent. Certified by the AART and is licensed by the Indiana State Department of Health. Ability to continuously deal with simple to moderately complex problems requiring appropriate resolution or reporting. Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills required to facilitate effective interaction with a variety of health care professionals, patients, and visitors. Ability to prioritize and organize workload to achieve unit and Center objectives and goals. Familiarity with medical terminology preferred or required to complete a course in medical Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages. Working Conditions: Accountable to the Executive Director, Clinical Director and/or Peri-Op Charge Nurse. Normal peri-operative work environment with occasional exposure to chemical odors, cleaning solvents, other hazardous materials, and radiation. Occasional exposure to possible injury when working with electrical equipment which requires care and following proper safety procedures. Requires walking and standing and frequent lifting of supplies and, at times, patients.
