The Applied Machine Learning group at Redfin works towards redefining real estate in the customer's favor using machine learning. We work on foundational problems in the real estate space including recommendations (“Where should I live?”) and price estimation (“How much is a home worth?”). The Brokerage Recommendations product alone, which we power drives 27% of all traffic to Redfin platforms. We have real estate data at a national level and work across various domains in machine learning using large-scale multi-modal property data (documents, images, text, video, 3D scans etc.). Our team also owns and maintains end-to-end production-grade large-scale machine learning infrastructure and systems serving hundreds of millions of consumers. As a Senior Data Science Engineer for the Applied Machine Learning Team, your job is to leverage advanced analytical techniques and statistical modeling to extract meaningful insights from our vast datasets, driving the development and improvement of our machine learning solutions. You will work with an experienced group of machine learning engineers and researchers with robust research to production culture. The Role: You will design and implement advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms to solve complex real estate problems. You'll perform comprehensive Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) to understand data structure, distributions, and anomalies, and apply feature engineering techniques-including transformation, selection, and creation-to optimize model performance. You will co-create the next generation of data-driven insights for automated valuation and recommender systems. Identify and implement improvements to ML models that power production-scale customer-facing experiences. You will assist other engineers and stakeholders in understanding and utilizing data science methodologies and findings at Redfin. You'll build data products and analytical tools that drive some of the company's most critical metrics and impact revenue growth. We are helping create the best possible home buying or selling experience, one feature at a time. Who You Are: You have 5+ years of experience in data science, statistical modeling, and software engineering, including experience with open-source data science tools; experience with Recommender Systems is a plus. Required Skills (4+ years of experience): Python (Scikit-learn, PyTorch, Tensorflow/Keras, NumPy, Pandas, XGBoost), SQL, A/B testing, statistical modeling, data visualization. Preferred Skills: Spark, Apache Airflow, AWS (S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, Kinesis, SageMaker). You communicate cross-functionally and can take a data science project from inception, research, experimentation, validation, and deployment. You are passionate about inventing and applying advanced analytical and ML techniques to extract insights and solve business problems. You have experience developing large-scale data applications backed by relational and non-relational databases - we utilize Kafka, Java, Python, Postgres, SQL, K8s, Jenkins, and Airflow in AWS.
