KBF is currently seeking multiple Controllers to join our US Managed Accounting Services team in the following locations: Dallas, TX | Boston, MA | Los Angeles, CA | NYC | Charlotte, NC.
As the external client facing Controller at KBF within the Managed Accounting Services practice you will be responsible for assisting clients with closing their books monthly, properly recording revenue, documenting and performing analysis over cost accounting and other critical areas, maintaining financial records for various clients, assisting with internal budgets and internal processes, and review of other team members' work. This role will lead the monthly close of numerous client books in a variety of industries. This position will be a management level role with the expectation that client service is critical. The role will report to a Director of Managed Accounting Service and be supported by a team of accountants at other KBF global offices. Each Controller will manage between 15-25 clients depending on the workload and size of the clients.
Responsibilities

Ability to plan, assign and review work performed by Bookkeepers working on engagements for accuracy as well as provide feedback for improvement. Assist in implementing new tools and software.
Own the financial monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and complex accounting items for multiple clients simultaneously. Develop a detailed close plan for each client and make sure all tasks are completed prior to scheduling a formal review with the Director of Managed Accounting Services.
Proactively manager project deadlines to ensure delivery of work product based on client expectations and deadlines.
Collaborate with the Managed Accounting Services and Tax teams regarding technical questions as well as progress of projects, tasks and associated budgets.
Review client financial performance on a monthly basis and make recommendations for improvement
Assist clients with properly recording transactions associated with revenue recognition (ASC 606), equity and leases to ensure GAAP compliance.
Collaborate with team members to make recommendations to clients associated with process improvements and KPIs/Dashboard improvements.
Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned

Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
CPA license
Previous work experience as a Controller or similar role
In-depth working knowledge and understanding of U.S. General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Ability to learn and work in multiple accounting systems and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Advanced level MS Excel skills

The salary range for this position reflects various factors that influence compensation decisions, such as skills, experience, training, certifications, licensure, geographic location, and other organizational requirements. The estimated current salary range for this role is $115,000 to $180,000.

Job Description
This position is responsible for various general ledger posting and reconciliation processes and third-party settlement processing for the Credit Union. This position is also responsible for various month-end closing duties including but not limited to posting of accruals and adjustments to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and completion of month-end reconciliations for the Credit Union as well as providing training support, technical knowledge, and cross coverage for functions performed by Accounting Staff members In addition, schedules of various accounting activities must be maintained to facilitate the Credit Union's NCUA Examination and the External CPA Audit. This position is responsible for composing and maintaining department procedures for tasks assigned.
Essential Functions
Specialty Focus Area: Role will have a "Specialty" related to the overall department. Specialty areas may include some/all of the following: Fixed Assets: Responsible for maintaining the fixed asset subledger through timely recording of asset additions, transfers, retirements, and depreciation in accordance with company policy and GAAP. Manage the annual fixed asset inventory and monitor projects in process to ensure timely and accurate transition of completed projects to fixed assets. Leases: Responsible for maintaining and accounting for the lease portfolio in accordance with GAAP (ASC 842). Collaborate with other departments on lease activity, review lease agreements and amendments to identify and record appropriate accounting treatment, manage the lease accounting process and systems, as well as record monthly journal entries and reconcile lease subledgers. Investments & Derivatives: Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete accounting records for all investment and derivative transactions, timely and accurate reconciliation of all investment accounts and resolution of discrepancies, collaborate with other departments to support the credit union's investment strategies, and preparation of schedules and reports for auditors and examiners. Payroll: Responsible for processing bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll for all employees, reconciling various payroll accounts and resolving discrepancies, timely and accurate remittance of retirement contributions, and collaborating with Human Resources and Payroll to ensure proper accounting treatment for all pay codes. Member Payment Processing: Responsible for accurately processing and reconciling daily member payment activity across multiple channels, investigating and resolving payment discrepancies, collaboration with other departments to ensure timely and effective payment operations, supporting process improvement and efficiency initiatives, as well as preparation and maintenance of accurate records for internal reviews, audits, and exams.
Perform assigned month-end processing and closing duties. Analyze, assess, calculate, and post accruals for assigned income and expense transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP. Prepare formal reconciliations to include appropriate supporting documentation.

* Specialty Focus Area: Role will have a "Specialty" related to the overall department. Payroll: Responsible for processing bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll for all employees, reconciling various payroll accounts and resolving discrepancies, timely and accurate remittance of retirement contributions, and collaborating with Human Resources and Payroll to ensure proper accounting treatment for all pay codes. Member Payment Processing: Responsible for accurately processing and reconciling daily member payment activity across multiple channels, investigating and resolving payment discrepancies, collaboration with other departments to ensure timely and effective payment operations, supporting process improvement and efficiency initiatives, as well as preparation and maintenance of accurate records for internal reviews, audits, and exams.
* Perform assigned month-end processing and closing duties. Analyze, assess, calculate, and post accruals for assigned income and expense transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP. Prepare formal reconciliations to include appropriate supporting documentation.
* Prepare various schedules for regulators, auditors, and regulatory reporting. Participate in core release testing and assessments for accounting-related functions.
* Other job-related duties assigned commensurate with position grade, to include technical support and cross-coverage of other Accounting Specialists' tasks.

Minimum Formal Qualifications for this Position
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting / Finance or equivalent preferred
* 2+ years' combined experience in an accounting function or related functions. Required

Position Summary:
Performs a broad range of accounting and financial reporting. Main areas of responsibility include accounting for the Bank's investment portfolios, accounting for fixed assets and assisting in the general ledger closing process. The position also assists in the preparation of various financial and regulatory reports, including the FDIC Call Report, as well as quarterly and annual SEC filings. Assists the SVP - Controller with tax-related accounting and reporting, including processing filings, tax projections and provisioning and completing tax return schedules. Key Responsibilities:
Prepares the daily reconciliation of the Federal Reserve Bank Statement.
Maintains responsibility for the accounting and reporting for the investment portfolio.
Maintains responsibility for the fixed asset accounting, including new asset set-up for all fixed assets purchased as well as prepaids monthly and assigns either life or term over which asset is amortized.
Maintains responsibility for the accounting and reporting of select subsidiaries.
Maintains responsibility and monitors an account certification program for all general ledger accounts. Oversee the timely reconciliation of outstanding general ledger and correspondent bank statement items.
Responsible for preparing tax work papers for the Bank and its consolidated subsidiaries and for reconciling details to the tax return.
Responsible for preparing quarterly estimated tax payments including the roll forward of deferred tax assets and ensures that payments, if any, are timely remitted.
Maintains responsibility for the preparation of the monthly Financial Board Reports.
Collaborates in the preparation of the FDIC Call Report for the Bank and its subsidiaries.
Collaborates in the preparation of Pioneer Bancorp's SEC filings, including forms 10-K, 10-Q, 11-K, 8-K and proxy statement.
Performs other duties as may be requested.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Minimum of three years' recent accounting experience required.

What You'll Do:

POSITION PURPOSE
