We are seeking a Roadway Engineer to join our dynamic and collaborative Transportation Engineering team in Sanford! The Project Engineer - Roadway is responsible for supporting the design and delivery of transportation projects from concept through completion. This role includes performing roadway design tasks, assisting with utility coordination, preparing construction documents, and conducting site investigations. The Project Engineer works closely with Project Managers, Senior Engineers, and technical staff to provide accurate, efficient, and high-quality engineering solutions. This position requires strong technical expertise, collaboration, and a commitment to delivering projects on time and within budget. This role involves planning and designing roadway projects for the local municipalities, including DOT funded projects. Work may include complete streets/streetscapes, roadway widening, resurfacing, bicycle and pedestrian paths, intersections, traffic signals, roundabouts, and other roadway improvements. Projects can range from local streets to major highways, covering all phases from early planning to final design. Duties Include Receive project direction from Project Managers or Senior Project Engineers and provide regular updates on progress, challenges, and proposed solutions. Research and evaluate design alternatives, preparing findings and recommendations for project plans. Support the design, development, and implementation of engineering solutions for transportation projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with standards, budgets, and schedules. Perform roadway design tasks including horizontal and vertical alignments, typical sections, drainage and hydraulic analysis, erosion control plans, quantity tabulations, cost estimates, and general plan production. Assist in preparing and reviewing construction drawings, specifications, engineering calculations, and supporting documentation. Assist in utility coordination, preparation and update utility conflict matrixes, subsurface utility engineering requests, and review of utility work schedules. Collaborate with clients, subconsultants, technical staff, and managers to achieve high-quality project outcomes on time and within budget. Support Project Managers and Senior Engineers with task production, project documentation, and recordkeeping. Travel as needed to perform site investigations, observe construction activities, including preparing and reviewing reports and exhibits. Provide directions on resource management, task prioritization, and technical problem-solving. Requirements Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering 2-5 years of experience in a similar role or relevant internship experience. EI/EIT Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire. This position will specifically deploy data acquisition systems & networks for utility scale energy storage solutions with direct integration to LFP DC Blocks batteries, inverters, and balance of plant equipment required to provide supervisory and control for a battery power plant. The EMS SCADA Engineer will also support the EMS Controls Engineer and Commissioning Lead in constructing an HMI that can streamline deployments of new projects.
