**Job Summary**
This position will be housed at the Auburn University Stormwater Research Facility located in Opelika, Alabama. The Stormwater Research Facility is a 10-acre outdoor research laboratory dedicated to conducting full-scale evaluations to improve practices and products used to manage stormwater runoff. More information on the facility is available at stormwater.auburn.edu.
Provides direct technical support to researchers by maintaining, scheduling, and operating facilities and equipment; collecting and/or providing technical expertise on specimens/samples; and gathering/reporting data.

**Essential Functions**
+ Maintains supplies, equipment and facilities used in conjunction with research activities.
+ Assists researchers with routine experiments.
+ Performs scientific data collections involving routine procedures.
+ Operates field, laboratory, and/or shop equipment used in support of research projects.
+ Cleans and maintains field and/or laboratory equipment.
+ Performs fieldwork by collecting specimens, samples, and gathering data.
+ Trains students and staff in the operation of equipment and technical procedures.
+ Maintains and organizes detailed records of studies conducted for computer data entry and records computer results.
This position requires assistance setting up experiments, collecting data, operating equipment, performing manual labor, and maintaining facility grounds. Applicants should be comfortable and able to work outdoors, have knowledge and experience in working with small/medium-sized equipment, and can lift 50 lbs. Construction experience and stormwater inspection experience are desirable.

Job Details:The School of Medicine on the Columbus, Georgia campus is searching for a Research Assistant I.
Responsibilities:
The Research Assistant will work with the Principle Investigator in a very collaborative and team-based atmosphere. The successful candidate will have a strong academic background and show evidence of keen interest in biomedical research. They will have the aptitude and aspiration to learn new skills and work well with others. The Research Assistant, under the direct supervision of the PI, will be responsible for rodent surgery, running animals for studies, helping with breeding colony and wet lab related activities such as immunofluorescence and microscopy.
Other duties include:
Assisting the PI in all aspects related research projects, including (but not limited to) maintaining a rodent colony and assisting with data collection.
Assist the PI in performing data analysis and preparation of figures for manuscripts.
Place purchase order for lab supplies and animals, and maintain laboratories in a good order.
Qualifications:
The Research Assistant I position requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field from an accredited college/university and some research experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to learn and perform immunolabeling, fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, cryosectioning, and tissue preparation.
Ability to learn and perform animal experiments including injections, terminal surgery, survival surgery and organ processing etc.
Ability to analyze experimental data and formulate initial conclusions.

Collect and report adverse events promptly, including SAEs within required timelines.
Maintain investigational product inventory, logs, and storage conditions.

Site & Administrative Support
Prepare for monitoring visits and audits, assist with ISF maintenance, and address follow-up actions.
Organize exam rooms, labs, storage, and waiting areas as needed.
Assist with scheduling, participant check-in/out, and front desk coverage (as applicable).

Assist supervising physician in management of hospitalized patients (with concurrent hospital approval for such a role) plus: check on clinical status of patient, explain tests or therapy, report on progress to physician, check on report of studies, assist in documentation of care, within limits of hospital regulations, transfer copies of hospital data to office records when appropriate, arrange for post hospitalization follow-up care, assist in surgery, and make rounds when appropriate.

The supervising physician and P.A. or NP are expected to understand and comply with the current laws, rules and regulations governing P.A. or NP practice of the state.
