Centific AI Research seeks a PhD Research Intern to design and evaluate speech‑first models, with a focus on Spoken Language Models (SLMs) that reason over audio and interact conversationally. You'll move ideas from prototype to practical demos, working with scientists and engineers to deliver measurable impact.
Scope of Work
End‑to‑end speech dialogue systems (speech‑in/speech‑out) and speech‑aware LLMs.
Alignment between speech encoders and text backbones via lightweight adapters.
Efficient speech tokenization and temporal compression suitable for long‑form audio.
Reliable evaluation across recognition, understanding, and generation tasks-including robustness and safety.
Latency‑aware inference for streaming and real‑time user experiences.
Example Projects
Prototype a conversational SLM using an SSL speech encoder and a compact adapter on an existing LLM; compare against strong baselines.
Create a data recipe that blends conversational speech with instruction‑following corpora; run targeted ablations and report findings.
Build an evaluation harness that covers ASR/ST/SLU and speech QA, including streaming metrics (latency, stability, endpointing).
Ship a minimal demo with streaming inference and logging; document setup, metrics, and reliability checks.
Author a crisp internal write‑up: goals, design choices, results, and next steps for productionization.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD candidate in CS/EE (or related) with research in speech, audio ML, or multimodal LMs.
Fluency in Python and PyTorch, with hands‑on GPU training; familiarity with torchaudio or librosa.
Working knowledge of modern sequence models (Transformers or SSMs) and training best practices.
Depth in at least one area: (a) discrete speech tokens/temporal compression, (b) modality alignment to LLMs via adapters, or (c) post‑training/instruction tuning for speech tasks.
Strong experimentation habits: clean code, ablations, reproducibility, and clear reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with speech generation (neural codecs/vocoders) or hybrid text+speech decoding.
Background in multilingual or code‑switching speech and domain adaptation.
Hands‑on work evaluating safety, bias, hallucination, or spoofing risks in speech systems.

Adaptive is seeking an exceptional Research Associate I to join a new subsidiary spinout, Digital Biotechnologies Inc. The Scientist will play a critical role in helping to develop a “Next” Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) instrument specifically designed for clinical medicine. Program Objectives
To provide exceptional training and experience for APP professionals to have a successful career in any emergency department setting.

Fifteen (15) months program duration with over 3000 hours of post graduate training

The successful candidate will join the Wraparound Evaluation and Research Team (WERT) to provide research, data, and administrative support to multiple research projects and program evaluations. WERT conducts federally funded and state-contracted implementation and evaluation research at a systems level. We partner with states, public child-serving agencies, Wraparound provider organizations, and intermediaries to promote effective systems of care and high-quality, model-adherent Wraparound care coordination for children and youth with serious emotional and behavioral needs and their families. A key method through which UW WERT supports the field and conducts its research is via a suite of evaluation measures, known collectively as the Wraparound Fidelity Assessment System (WFAS). WFAS tools and its accompanying online data collection, management, and reporting system (WrapStat) are licensed for use by hundreds of provider organizations nationally.
The Research Study Assistant (RSA) will focus on technical assistance for hundreds of WFAS users nationwide via the "helpdesk" email for WERT. This will require excellent problem-solving skills and being able to find appropriate information and documents to send to the users. The RSA will assist with pulling report data for our multiple large contracts. They will support several statewide initiatives that are informed by fidelity and client outcomes measured by using WFAS tools and the WrapStat online software package. The RSA will also assist in development and testing of a text-based data system via a pending National Institute of Mental Health Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant. Anatomic Pathology Technician, Autopsy & After Death Services

**Who we're looking for:** The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP) in Seattle, WA has a fantastic opportunity for an **Anatomic Pathology Technician** with the **Autopsy & After Death Services Team** at the University of Washington Medical Center - Montlake and Harborview Medical Center
When a patient dies at a UW Medicine hospital, the care of the decedent and their surviving family passes to us. In this Anatomic Pathology Technician position, you serve as almost equally as scientist and social worker. We provide a level of service to our bereft families in both our autopsy and after death services that is unique to the clinical laboratory and provides an excellent professional growth experience.
**Work schedule:**
+ 100% FTE
+ Monday - Friday with rotating on-call time on evenings and weekends
+ Day shift
**What you'll contribute:**
_Assist with autopsies with minimal supervision. Independently perform brain removal, evisceration of body and collect appropriate samples._
+ Clean and prepare body for release to a funeral home.
+ Photograph or radiograph specimens.
_Organize, clean and maintain autopsy suite._
+ Maintain appropriate supplies using Materials Management List.
+ Set up for autopsies, conferences, and surgical procedures done in autopsy suite.
+ Thoroughly clean autopsy area and all instruments following procedures and teaching.
+ Flush eye was stations weekly.
+ Maintain refrigerator and freezer temperatures.
_Maintain specimen storage system with minimal supervision._
+ Prepare stock formalin.
+ Maintain regular organ discard schedule.
+ Clean after discard.
+ Transport discard tissue to Biostructure for cremation.
_After Death Services and miscellaneous duties._
+ Monitor and perform quality control of specimens.
+ Identify problems and take corrective action, notifying manager of actions taken.
+ Orient pathology residents.
+ Provide autopsy procedural info to medical staff and new employees.
+ Train new employees in autopsy procedures.
+ Maintain comprehensive records by accessioning patient info into computer and logbook.
+ Prepare specimens for teaching.
+ Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety regulations.
+ Maintain downstairs morgue.
+ Maintain HMC morgue.
+ Review and create death certificates in the state electronic system.
+ Aid clinicians in using the electronic system to sign death certificates.
+ Miscellaneous duties performed under the direction of autopsy personnel.
**What you'll need:**
_Anatomic Pathology Technician Trainee:_
+ High school graduation AND 6 semester hours (9 quarter hours) of biological and physical science.
+ Associate Arts or Associate Science degree preferred OR equivalent education/experience.
_Anatomic Pathology Technician:_
+ Certified, or certified within two years from the date of hire, at the Technician level by a nationally recognized certifying agency such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Scientists or the Microscopy Society of America.
+ Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
