SMX is currently seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Systems Engineering Department (SED) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The program is providing systems engineering support of weapons systems on various platforms including technical research and development of technologies, analysis, and documentation as part of the acquisition of Aircraft, Weapon, and Integrated Systems and the evaluation of their technical performance, mission suitability and associated acquisition risks throughout the full acquisition process and lifecycle of a program. Performs engineering work pertaining to the system protection, controls systems, and transmission planning of Rayburn Country Electric Cooperative, Inc.'s (Rayburn) transmission system. Plans and coordinates checkout of new facilities provides engineering support to technicians, and designs modifications to improve existing facilities. Principal Duties and Responsibilities / Knowledge • Manages multiple priorities and works effectively in a deadline-driven environment. • Ensures maintenance, testing and upkeep requirements are met for transmission facilities connected to the Bulk Electric System and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grids. • Develop detailed and technically sound maintenance procedures for Rayburn transmission facilities. • Analyzes Rayburn Transmission System to identify upgrades and support growth. • Works together with Member cooperatives to comply with protocols and various interconnection projects, construction projects, and required programs. • Drives Rayburn vehicle to service sites; may involve exposure to live electrical hazards and inclement weather conditions. • Assists in preparation of Engineering budget. • Provides support for processing meter data. • Assists in SCADA support, to include troubleshooting SCADA issues during normal and emergency conditions • Responsible for programming field communications devices to interface with SCADA and Relays. • Subject to on call after normal business hours as business needs dictate.
